Not exactly an answer to your question, but part number is 137492 if that helps. Sunroof switch, like many other devices on Mondial, can be taken apart. Mine stopped working a few days ago, and I took it apart. Of course it didn't want to close to sunroof anymore... but at least the weather was nice. Once you have taken the switch out of your car, pry one side of the collar with a small screwdriver. You also need to cut the end of the plastic tabs, which have been melted from their end to rivet the switch housing halves together. Image Unavailable, Please Login The small contact parts on my switch had gone out of their place, and the small spring had stretched a bit. Still was lucky enough to got the parts in working positions with tweezers. Left side is for opening the sunroof, and the parts on that side are on their proper places.
While I was there, I looked at why the sunroof does not want to close all the way unless I help it to slide to final position. The seal surrounding the sunroof is so hard, that instead of being elastic it has actually worn out the paint on roof! I don't have the tools to measure paint thickness, but I suspect the paint on roof is original and there are no extra layers. After adding some silicone the sunroof closed itself again without any help, even though the worn out paint had made the surface uneven. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hey thanks for the info and photos. I had already done the same the other day. I found the exact same thing. The spring has stretched out too far and when I put the switch back together, it wouldn’t stay together, the spring kept on falling out. GOOD NEWS. Today,, after seeing your message... I thought I’m gonna try to fix the spring by heating it up with a torch. It worked! So the fix.. find a small wire that will fit through the spring to hold it in place. That is a must! If you don’t the spring can/will slip out of the vise grips and go flying into the abyss. Ask me how I know lol . I was extremely lucky to find the spring. I used a twist tie. Put it through the spring,, then take small vice grips and carefully compress the spring so it’s as far as it can close.. without bending it. Then heat up the spring with a torch,, try to get the spring red hot,, then cool it quickly by dipping it into ice water. I did that about 3 times just to make sure. Bingo.. the spring is like new! I reassembled the switch and it works as good as new! I’ll post some photos. Hope this helps someone. Apparently they don’t make this switch anymore so it’s worth doing!! Great work on the switch and thanks for sharing. One thing that is always a great idea, when having switches apart, is to clean the contacts with Deoxit "cleaner" and then follow it with Deoxit "Gold" -- which is a conditioner will improve conductivity and keep it working well much longer than untreated contacts. We've all used contact cleaners before, but Deoxit is different than anything else, and a miracle worker. I prefer brush-on over spray for this type of work, but spray cleaner/conditioner is available also. Friends don't let Italian car friends not use Deoxit https://www.amazon.com/Hosa-CAIG-DeoxIT-Equipment-Care/dp/B071HB1ZQQ/ref=sr_1_11?crid=3ID8ZSUXW65YF&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.e4YTTvHtHZ4cPW7vQDeMpv7WCdVUJ3Pkmtg5XgBJCpBlEtjj3Kuh3ELnlwcnI1fqKGeN-AOrSa06k0l5coqrMGjDs8MYVihXmb-9Ws3dxwC_cScQi2bWw_n47AKgEdG_CGh3JtUWFAuMtlnAGLTsjjHfhiCkLh6QtaOx0THdvtXhTmxDgepEq14Zr8xxAH2fLRHHUlVwgamBolEoiKspUJcKLfylbxWqyjw03fpl6Zg.boMSY5E4z3qMkaeuY54bTwQQfxx5nlveHbnMwtKlkkU&dib_tag=se&keywords=deoxit+brush&qid=1716240308&sprefix=deoxit+brush,aps,108&sr=8-11 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hey thanks so much!! I’ll definitely get some ! I could use that on my guitar volume pots too.. all good!
Nice work! It didn't even cross my mind that the spring could be refurbished with heat treatment. I'll definitely try that if (...when) the switch ever gives me trouble again. Maybe even before that
I saw this sunroof rebuild kit - https://www.etsy.com/listing/1199739628/ferrari-mondial-sunroof-repair-kit?click_key=3db4bd1d6049af83dd7a1bab3c78004ab453be78%3A1199739628&click_sum=c139bb2a&ref=shop_home_active_1&fbclid=IwAR0BcXg2ualVgJGzflTJ-iklnuxx84Rl0JfYqT-XHM2uZs3kGEyJjo48Otg Wanting to use my sunroof with fingers crossed, if it does so south, how much of a 'B' is this refurbish job for a guy with average mechanical skills (me)?
My only concern would be the mechanical strength and durability of those 3d printed parts - knowing the forces on them. I'd be happier with milled Nylon items, especially for that substantial price. Are your parts broken or badly worn? If not, I wouldn't change them.
My sunroof's operation is basically as it should. Except for one thing. When it is in the open position: After a little while of driving it slides forward by itself. I can push it back again but it will slide forward again. What's usually the cause of that? Something's broken or just misadjusted?
Ah... That might be the cause. A previous owner installed a new tube made of a copper tube. I will probably need to add an end-cap to the assembly. Will male a picture as soon as I get to it.
I took my entire sunroof apart and gutted the mechanism in preparation for being welded shut. The one tricky part to remove seems to be the twisty wire portion that runs from the metal plate at the sunroof through the back of the sunroof basis, through a hole to go down the C-pillar and out the rear trunk. I managed to get it to move loosely from the rear through the hole into the cabin from the C-pillar area, but it won't pull through cleanly. I plan to eventually just cut it but I want to do it once the black glass has been removed (while I want this extra unecessary bit gone, I don't want to risk damaging the curved glass piece).
I have no experience with this kit, but the pot metal pulley/shaft assembly that usually breaks appears to be machined out of aluminum in the Etsy kit, so it's likely that it's much stronger than the original. @Brooklands had a prior post (quoted below) where he has the kit, thought it's sitting as a spare. I wouldn't replace any of the nylon parts with the kit unless they are really worn.
Q: How does one remove this pot metal bracket? I think this is the one thing holding this twisty tension wire to my Mondial.
I've done plenty of the webasto type in Fords. They all work the same way drill some rivets and slide out the broken stuff from the frame. Yeah you'd make it look easy.
I bought my car before I could test it. Seller told me the sunroof did not work. So once the car arrived and after I washed and cleaned it I just had to push the button! It did work! And very well! But I will never touch that button again! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Seems like my copper pipe is not original anymore. Could someone provide me with the original length? I would then cut the pipe to the original length and add an end cap. Image Unavailable, Please Login
