anyone else getting swamped the last week with spam callers? most of mine are coming out of "Ft. Worth". I know there are always a few week to week, but it is now like dozens a day.

I can block each one, but they keep coming from different numbers. iPhone use to have a report spam, but I don't see it now, just block. seems like telecoms can easily have customers report "spam" and when it breaks a certain threshold for reports it is obvious to shut it down, that will never happen if you can't report each number.

Anyone else have any advice? It might be worth a call to Verizon, but I dread that automated and hold nightmare.

I am so thankful that I don’t need to receive phone calls to work so I simply never answer the phone for anyone I don’t know (and a few people I do :)

so I'll figure this out eventually and document everything here.

first step is the Do Not Call Registry, you can confirm you are on it and also report spam calls.

    https://www.donotcall.gov/

It says I have been registered since February 03, 2004.

reporting to FCC is pretty tedious, if you filled out all the forms it would take 10 minutes each, I did get it down to 1 minute just providing minimum info. I doubt they do anything, it is the government.

I did have a good experience with the FCC in the late 90's, I got slammed (telecom switched my phone to them without permission). The FCC went after them hard I provided all the info and my stuff helped them put them out of business.

Verizon has an additional app called the Call Filter, I will see how well it works.

Do not call registry is a joke. They seem to come in waves. Mine have not been too bad lately. Its always a spoofed number so I am not sure call blocking is much good. My phone must have 1000 numbers blocked. A city near you is usually chosen but I have been getting quite a few from northern mid west and north east. Any presidential candidate can get my vote if he convinced me he could put a stop to them. It really is a practice that should be banned. If you cannot even use your own phone number what possible commercial legitimacy can you claim anyway. Like I really want to borrow money from someone using a spoofed number. They should all be executed. The world would be a better place.

The really sad part is it must work on some people or no one would be doing it.

the Verizon Call Filter app isn't doing anything yet. Calls are still coming through not blocked and not even going straight to voicemail.

FYI still getting 10-20 spam calls a day weekdays, not weekends. Call Filter app is blocking about 25% of incoming now, but I think they are ones manually blocked already. I don't think the Call Filter app does anything additional (preventive or spam report) than just Blocking the number in your phone.

My Verizon is a few a day but once every 2 months or so it will just go crazy for a week or 10 days then calm down again.
