Hi everyone, I removed my in fuel tank filter to have an inspection of it, as my Mondial will have its 40th birthday soon and I suspect it has never been cleaned. Mine looks in bad shape and I am wondering if it is even needed (given that the fuel filter is not too far up the line after the fuel pump) and if it is essential any tips on cleaning it? I have tried Brake cleaner but no real luck. Cheers Ned
This filter is to save the fuel pump from anything that is caught by the filter. The filter after the fuel pump is to catch much smaller particles to protect your injectors.
Thanks for the reply MvT, that makes sense, now I just need to clean it somehow. I will try soaking it overnight and see how I go.
A filter should not cost more then 100 USD. I replaced min 7 years ago and I paid 50 euro (60 USD) at the time at the Ferrari dealer. IMHO the effort you put in to clean it does not weight up by replacing it with a new one I guess
Hello Ned, Maybe this link is of help, although it's for a T. Assuming your filter is of the same mesh, the K&N brushing and massaging might help you too. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/cleaning-the-filter-of-the-348-t-fuel-pump-assembly.676778/ Good luck, Mondi Cab
Its not a filter, its more a "screen" and it only avoids large pieces of something to brake the fuel pump. The fileter is AFTER the fuel pump. I replaced it with a generic piece of screen, that can be found for any car of any kind... costed like 1 dolar.
