I think I will need this software. I must ask EAG if they are doing this on my car. They are almost finished converting my 599 HGTE

The boys at the DDE YouTube channel have discovered, I think, an issue with the three-pedal converted 599s: that wider than standard rear tires plus clutch drop standing starts are hazardous to the health of the 599 driveline. In serial incidents they have managed to shear both half-shafts on one of their 599s. Then, in normal driving, a number of teeth evidently broke off the ring gear in this same car's differential. Yes, the DDE guys are foolishly hard on their equipment. But any number of low priced, high torque cars -- the Mopar Redeyes, ZL-1 Camaros, Shelby GT500s -- are able to take the abuse without these kinds of failures. The workaround is obvious: no clutch drop burnouts for your converted 599.

Where was this talked about. To be frank, DDE deliberately break cars to create content. Who knows what else is done to their cars. Also they hype stuff for click bait.

Decided to take the plunge and do a conversion on my 599 with our very own Brogenville. All I can tell you even though its early stages it has been an absolute pleasure dealing with Brogenville @ Out Of The Gate and really appreciate his time talking it through with me and explaining every stage of the process and always ready to answer my questions and concerns.

The great part is, Out Of The Gate is based in Scotland so I get to drive there from London and spend sometime in Bonny Scotland :) which I have always wanted to do but never got round to it, more importantly meet Brogenville in person.

Thank you Brogenville for your time and patient.

For better or worse, neither do I. I really should be better at this stuff, but I have no natural inclination towards social media. :D

@Mickey Bharat: Sorry for this repeat hi-jack of your thread, but in today's upload to the DDE YouTube channel, at the 23:40 mark, DDE's new go-to Ferrari mechanic reveals the cause of the third breakdown of one of DDE's EAG-converted 599s. It is not a broken ring gear. Rather, there was an initial failure when both the differential's side gears cracked. These are the gears that receive the splined ends of the left and right output shafts. A secondary failure followed, when the cracks in these gears allowed them to rotate faster than the output shafts. Essentially the splines in the output shafts kipped a tooth. Eventually the splines eroded to the point where engine torque will rotate the side gears, but the output shafts, bolted to the half-shafts and hence to the tires, will not rotate. This is why the car became disabled in normal, non-abusive use. Simply put, it was time.

Here is a screencap of one of the side gears showing the crack:

Here is the Ferrari parts diagram, that I screencapped from the Maranello Classic Parts website, showing the complete differential assembly, as well as one of the half-shafts (each of which DDE Dave has also snapped in two, in separate events):

In this diagram you can see the ring gear (grayed out), the four spider gears, and the two side gears. It is alarming to see the implication that Ferrari will sell only the complete differential assembly, designated as part "#5" in the drawing, given that there are a number of internal parts (including the LSD clutch) that can fail and be replaced without replacing the entire assembly. Maranello Classic Parts quotes a price of £2,595.02 for this assembly. Also alarming, for enthusiasts of the older-but-not-antique Ferraris, is Maranello's message in its on-line catalog, "Applicable until depletion." In other words, when they're gone they're gone. So I'll say it again, don't do any standing-start clutch drops in your three-pedal 599. Otherwise, enjoy your new gear-jammer in good health!
