    Dear all,
has anyone experience with changing loudspeakers in a 550?
Mine are all quirky and ratteling, so cannot preperly listen to music anymore.

Had the rear ones exchanged, and a pretty high workload was charged.
Now, front ones allegedly require even more labor: Whole dashboard to come out.

Any experiences or iedes how to access the front speakers?

    Best, Karl

The speakers in the 550 dashboard are bolted to the underside of the dashboard, and then the plastic ducting for the dashboard A/C outlets and defroster ducts is screwed on top of the speakers.
The only way to access the speakers without destroying the dashboard, is to remove the entire dashboard, then remove the plastic ducting for the defroster ducts and A/C outlets.
Estimate around 20+ hours of labor plus factor in repair/replacement of old plastic bezels/parts breaking.
It makes replacing the rear speakers look like a quick and easy job.

Hi Motob, thanks for the knowledgeable insights and the pics. OMG, sound äs horrible. Always mindboggling how stupid some of the stuff was composed back in the days. Sounds like I‘ll almost have to accrue saving for this - which in turn won’t give the car any add‘l value - pure maintenance. Thanks anyway, Karl
