Hi - just looking at extending the factory warranty on my Portofino, but just want to check whether it's worth it based on likely issues that may occur with the car.
Has anyone had major issues with say the roof mechanism, gearbox, engine cylinder head oil leaks or other major issues with their Portofino?
    Thanks

I have a 2020; TFT went bad early on and just had a leather failure replaced, that’s it ….. but considering a screw costs like $5k I got it anyway for my 2020. 2y 11k.

Only issue I have had with my 2020 Porto is with the battery. The car is now on its 4th battery, even though I keep it on a trickle charger after just about every drive. It is my daily drive and on most days I drive about 12 kilometres, not more, hence the constant need for a charger. However, it once went when I was doing four hundred kilometres a day for three days, suggesting it may not only be the short distances.
Apart from replacing the battery free, no word from the dealer as to WHY this is happening.
I have to decide whether to extend the warranty too, so will follow your thread closely. Let me know what you decide.

I actually had a dct failure right after the warranty expired. Ferrari was very kind on the fix but I will always get the extended warranty. These cars are built rock solid but sh#t happens and they ain’t cheap to fix. Kind of like the old Henry colt saying (I think), better to have a gun and not need it to be versus needing one and not having it. My 2 cents

The only issue I’ve had with mine 2019 and 3500 miles after one year trouble free was a leak in my Freon line. I have the extended warranty so it was fixed no charge. FWIW, I will probably extend the warranty when this one expires. Best , Kirk.

It might be heat from the engine that so to speak kills the battery, that seems to be the case with the batteries in FF (and GTC4Lusso) anyway. For example if I drive 520km a few times... the battery does not like long hot drives it seems... Just a guess...

I've got 7000+ miles on my 2019, with (knock on wood) no major issues. Nevertheless, like others here, given how expensive anything can be to fix, I preferred the peace of mind of getting the extended warranty.

Thank you to everyone for sharing their thoughts - based on this I'm going to go for the extended warranty!

Among the several considerations on picking whether to carry an extended warranty is the pricing. The price is an estimate by the manufacturer of the average cost of repairs for the vehicle under that coverage, plus the cost to handle the warranty program sales and service overhead, plus some profit. Of course the manufacturer averages their estimate over a larger number of cars than just the individual. The manufacturer basically is telling the warranty customer that the average cost of repairs will be perhaps half of the warranty purchase cost. The question then becomes whether the problems covered occur at the one in three cars level or one in 20. The one in 20 level is much more expensive per warranty visit, but much less likely to happen. On the Cali/Porto series, after the earliest cars things settled down to pretty reliable cars. I dropped the warranty on my 2016, your comfort level may vary. So far only the sticky buttons have occurred on my car with about 22,000 miles.

I did extend mine , bumper to bumper warranty for the last time in April. So far only used 4-5k to replace the passenger display screen that crapped out.
Also extended on my F8s in January.

I added another 6,000 miles and the only other issue I had was the passenger display screen needed to be replaced. Good news is I extended the warranty so no charge. The car is being picked up Monday for its annual service. Great daily driver.

good to hear ~ since your car is probably a 2017-2020, hopefully too early for any serious probs... I'm really wondering how the DCT will be in 4 years! I guess only time will tell. My DCT just grenaded 2m ago in my '11 California. My other friend just bought a 2020 Port last year, so was just seeing if anyone had early tranny issues like with the Calis/Ts. It's the same Getrag 7DCL750 transmission!!! cheers (the Port M has the new 8 speed getrag)

Mine is 2019 . I extended the bumper to bumper warranty so if it does crap out I have no out of pocket expense for the next year and a half. After that I suspect I will have a different DD.
Ps. Going in for annual service Monday.
