I am trying to trade-in my 2004 6 speed gated 360 spider for a 458. Miles 14224 Black/Tan Last service with dealership 6 months ago. Belt service and tires due coming december. Dealer quoted 105k. I thought the market has been good for gated cars. Can somebody advise? Image Unavailable, Please Login
they said 105 cause they're gonna sell it for 135. your driver's side bolster needs some love for sure, but a black/tan gated 2004 is a NICE CAR. Elaborate on options and overall condition. Platino or driver? With your miles, i think it's worth more than 105 all day long. why are you getting out of it for a 458? curious. you got a gated Ferrari in a killer color combo. good luck with whatever you decide. love your color combo. i have a buddy i nick-named black/tan cause his vette is black/tan. haven't called him chuck in 15 years.
I agree. Looked at 360s and 430s for a solid year before buying my 430 and gated 360s carry a huge premium! Maybe try putting it on the classifieds on here. I can't imagine they you won't get MUCH more than 105k
Just sell it outright. I think you'll get a bit more. Sent from my toilet using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Dealers aren't nonprofit organisations, they buy your car to sell it right after and of course there's a price to pay if you want to sell it immediately without dealing with time wasters and low ballers. Having said so, just sell it on your own if you have patience, you will definitely make more than that.
First, negotiate with the 458 price. Then you can maybe reach a point at which the trade (money wise) for your 360 would be acceptable. Also you may want to check with the state laws regarding sales tax. When I bought my 360 I had a trade in. In my state you only pay the sales tax on the amount of the difference of the price once the trade in value is subtracted from the total sale. That was a huge incentive for me not to sell my car privately. Best of luck, and enjoy the experience. The 458 is a beautiful machine.
Here is a summary of 6-speed coupes solid on BaT, you can do some exploration , scroll down for the chart, click the door to see the car, change the filters, etc https://bringatrailer.com/ferrari/360/?search=6-speed Image Unavailable, Please Login
I would do the belt service and give it new shoes before selling (due in 4 months); if you don't a potential buyer will discount those cost from your asking price. As mentioned above, give some love to the seats also. In today's world of scammers/tricksters/cheaters and high crime, it can be dangerous to take a 'potential' buyer for a test drive. I wouldn't. That's why folks take a loss and trade-in or use a reputable Consigner to sell the car. You'll get more than the trade-in value. The latter would be my choice. GLWS
105 isnt a terrible offer considering its headache free and you get the tax break. on bat i think the car wld do 125 to 130, if no stories etc.
Sales tax savings can make a big difference. Eg. If it is 10%, then you would need to get approx 115K private party to break even. Ditto with consignment (which will add consignment fees). Do the math and see if it is worth the hassle of private party sale. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
$105 is a decent offer, especially looking how these are doing on BAT right now. But it could also be a horrible offer if the 458 price is inflated of course. I personally wouldn't want to deal with tire kickers and overly picky exotic buyers. A 20 year old car is supposed to perfect right? No thanks, I'm trading.
Black on tan + oem 6spd + <15k miles + last year model 360. Good points on the trade-in with taxes and all, but I'd give private party a try. This is the kind of spec that sets the top of the market.
