    Hi

I wonder if anyone has a DIY way of bleeding the front suspension lifter system on a 458? ( after having been disconnected when shock absorber was removed ) ?
In the workshop manual, it states to bleed the hydraulic lifter system a DEIS Diagnostic tester is required, and to select "NSV Bleeding" on that diagnostic tool. this is obviously the Ferrari specific tool that costs an absolute fortune!

Was going to change the springs, but don't want to run into drama not being able to bleed the lifter system afterwards!

    Thanks Miles

you can do it without using the tester, it's similar to bleeding brakes, it might throw a code but you can get that cleared anywhere that has a decent scanner that can read the suspension ecu. -- turn lift system on, open valve, (use a tube because that fluid shoots out like a rocket), close the tube, and repeat side to side. block the hose asap when disconnecting the line to stop excess fluid from running out. always make sure there is fluid in the tank so you don't burn out the pump.

Where is the reservoir located near the brake master?

On a 458 the reservoir is located in the engine compartment at the front on the right side underneath the right side trim panel.
The lift pump is located just in front of the right rear wheel.

Bleeding is done by cycling the system. It self bleeds as it runs through the cycle.

If it self bleeds, why does it have bleed nipples?

It self bleeds. Function the system and top up as needed.
