Ha! It's funny to see this thread pop up from 2006 when I was looking for a TR. Because it was local I ended up with a boring red one. Still have it. It is currently in storage. Still debating whether I should put it back on the road or sell it as is. It ran fine when parked but way overdue for engine out service. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's a fun shot! I remember when the TR looked like a large car. Now it looks downright svelte. Your head is at the roofline while you are kneeling! I always got a kick out of parking my 308 next to a Miata. They were kind of similar in size although you would never have guessed it unless you saw them next to each other. Cars have grown over the years. Here's a pic of a four seat, V12 from an earlier era compared with a modest two seater from a more recent era. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I found when parked next to a bulbous 360 the Testerosa looked about the same size as a 355. Looking at it in my basement it really isn't that large of a car compared to what I'm seeing these days. It's all relative and you know how I feel about relatives.
Likewise, As soon as I got the house paid off it allowed me to get out six years ago. All debt free now. Busier than I have ever been. Numerous construction projects including finishing out the inside of my shop. I am on a trend to eliminate some of the automotive projects that I have around here. Currently a couple of BMW 635s
Well, as of today the TR is officially sold. It is staying local. It went to a past co-worker as a non-operational vehicle due to the age of the belts. (It ran and drove great five years ago.) The sale was contingent on the need for an engine-out and the engine would not be started before sale. (or after). He is going to re-commission the car which I am quite happy about. Lots of great memories with this one. The driving experience was visceral mainly because the car is analog compared to everything else out there. I had the car for 17 years and priorities dictate this one had to go. Mixed feeling for sure... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Absolutely! I spent five years on the 39 Chevy and I have spent all winter on the 635. I still have a few months to go on that. Best of all, NO TIMING BELTS.
I forgot to mention that TR will receive the Newman differential carrier upgrade. The car should be rock solid after this. I'm jealous.
My fun car will be selling the end of this month too. That Chevy looks like fun! But I just moved down to AZ. Needed more heat.
