As part of dryer replacement I able to recharge mine fine. It took a few cycles to get the system to ingest enough to kick on the compressor full time. My experience is that it would click on momentarily. I did not use anything to fancy (HF ac manifold) and just needed an adapter on the newer style "no tap" AC can. I followed instructions on the grams from another thread + PAG oil amount and weight.

I was unable to get the compressor to run long enough to accept even incremental charges but i think that was because i hadn't
vacuumed the system and it was still pressurized with air at 1 bar. Had I vacuumed it, I might have been able to get it to accept enough charge to do what you were able to do. Since my system had never been opened I did not replace the drier. It has been working fine thus far in the summer heat. Yesterday, the heat index was 109F and it was doing fine even in a Nero car in bright sunlight.

Makes sense. The driers are so cheap that I would recommend replacing it if you open the system and then vacuum. There is not much different on this AC system than my old Pontiac. (IMO) I've successfully charged the grand prix, 996 Porsche and now the F430. (imperative to have a specialist take out the refrigerant)

Same message as the other poster. "A/C compressor relay cannot be started". In his case he sees the status change, I do not see that at all.

scan the rest of the valves on the tool - it should have pressure ( even at rest) .. temp sensor readings .. maybe that will give you insight
Also look into any errors on a health report scan

Had sometime to look at why my A/C was not blowing cold air. When I remove the connector to the Air controls unit the compressor immediately kicks in and cold air starts blowing. It seems like the control unit on the dashboard has failed? Does that happen? Atleast, the A/C components seem to be fine.

    Any suggestions?

Strange. Maybe the system defaults to on with the panel removed. Does the STOP button action feel normal on the control panel? I have heard of them failing on other models.

I removed the units, re-installed the control panel and its working now. It was something to do with with AC switch. Removing it and reinstalling fixed whatever the problem was. It works as expected now.

I've read that "magic fix" in a few other threads. Seems sometimes the HVAC will recover itself with full power cycle of the control unit. Not clear if long term fix but glad to read the positive news.

Well four years later my AC has crapped out. Funny/sad since my Gallardo decided to do the same thing this summer season. Both similar miles on the cars so thinking the compressors are bad. I found WorldWideAC out of Reseda, CA (SoCal) and sending my OEM compressor for them for a rebuild. The pricing was very reasonable and also ordered anther drier. I will cut open my old on and post results.

Wow what a dream removal vs the Gallardo. Three 6mm hex bolts and then 27mm wrench and two 22mm wrenches. I had already gotten the gas removed at a local shop since it stopped cooling in August.

Mailed compressor out to these folks today, I will keep everyone posted but talking with them they seem proper.

Their name on ebay was different but same folks. Drier + compressor for under $400.

Still waiting for the spacer that I somehow lost which goes on top of the compressor.

Second (2020 and now 2024) drier installed along with proper PAG oil. Vacuuming it down.

My old drier appears grey but not black. Lots of shavings from me cutting it open.

I could of sworn the r134a fill was 500g. Now I wonder if my system was fine but just low...oh well. Better to have rebuilt compressor, new drier and oil.

750g of r134a also posted here:

The perfect pour. Hit 750g on the nose. Wow the A/C is icy cold compared to the 2000 Ford I also redid. Next up the G...
Interesting to me the Ferrari started to cool pretty well at 600g which is why I probably misread and stopped early on my fill four years ago. The variable displacement compressor is kinda awesome. OEM rebuilt compressor is happy (w new drier and of course vacuumed for an hour before fill) and so am I.

PAG 46 fill to amount below. I did add some UV dye to the mix.

I believe 4 oz came in the compressor and added under 5 oz to the drier when replacing.

I do not want to deal with removing the scuttle and swapping a drier ever again. This time I did not remove the hood and placing the piece back under the rubber with the hood present is challenging.

    10/4 buddies! Ice man out.

I had an issue with my AC in my scud.
    It was the relay.
