    Hello!

I just pickuped my 458 tonight, what a car!
such a leap after the 430... I think this one will be a keeper, for sure ;)

I drove 100+ miles after picking it up, arrived at night at my place in the countryside, I pushed the car on the empty curvy roads that was a blast. No errors, no check engine, no pb with temperature etc (that seems normal for you guys but where I come from it's a different world :) )

My only concern is the headers were a bit red (slightly glowing) in the night, visible only in pure darkness, is this slight glow mormal when they are hot ?? I had such bad experiences with my 430, broken cats, even a fire that I want to be safe and not sorry.

Thanks for letting me know if I am already back to the dealer lol

    Cheers!

I can't edit my first post but the car is a 2011, had a full PPI before CPO validation for 2 years in may 2024.

    ok thank you guys.
I have PTSD from my previous ride, my 430 had this issue but way more visible , this came with Slow Down! lights and engine in limp mode....
Broken Cats where the problem, because of crapped out fuel pump = > Misfires....

    cheers

I had an F430 spider prior to the 458. When you park the car at the house, open the rear bonnet to allow express cooling. This will help the hoses and engine compartment from baking in high heat. It will help all of the components in the engine to look good. These race engines get hot, very hot.

If this question is for me, no. You better have a giant bank account if you want to track a Ferrari.

Was a bit of a joke that I don’t even start or drive it much anymore…. In the middle of another 21 day straight without a day off (and they’re 10-13 hour days) so…

I feel ya!... this last week no driving due to being out of town for work...raining this weekend and back out on the road all this coming week in SC and GA, North FL. Since I got my F8 beginning of May I've only driven it 400 miles. I know in the Ferrari world that's a lot but that is nothing for me usually.

@athenis go do a track event at night and threshold braking at night will have your rotors glowing too. ;-)

Flexi joint at the end of OEM headers tend to fail due to low quality material, and once it happens, gas tanks are right there with disastrous consequences . Rattle at idle is the very first clue.

It is worth to double check.

Wait until you see a turbocharger at full song at night. It’s cherry red.
