Gosh darn it, you keep posting pics of this car all over my stompin' grounds and I still have yet to see it in the flesh. I'm beginning to think this is all an elaborate ruse. Or maybe I should get out more often...
Im assuming that the final paint job will be black lacquer . I could see the car in red as well, but my thoughts are it being black. If Ferrari were to come out with a " STREETFIGHTER MODEL " . this car would be it...Matter of fact, I wish there were a way for all of us to communicate that to the top brass , as well as you being paid well for the invention , so theres that. This design would be a very good seller, especially if it came with about 500 HP , from an updated direct injected 3.0 or 3.2 liter motor. Just some thoughts that have crossed my mind, no disrespect at all to Von. Big G
Got myself caught out in a rain storm today No wipers, check No defrost or heat, check No gauges, check Open carbs, check No wheel wells, check I still felt cool
Sounds almost like a stock 308.. Years ago I was on a great drive down in Oregon. Weather suddenly turned and we were in an all out blinding rain storm. AC and defrost were doing the best they could but they were slowly losing the battle. Anemic wipers were struggling and skipping across the windshield. They were kind of holding their own until the drivers side wiper snapped at the base. Wiper miraculously fell between the windshield and the hood. I pulled over and got drenched as I retrieved the wiper. So no wipers after that. Plus since I was now half soaked, I fogged the car up completely. So my wife and I passed a towel back and forth to clear the fogged up windows while we valiantly tried to make forward progress. This was on a trip with the Oregon Porsche Club. We had a pre-set route to follow to get to the dinner spot. I was with a couple of Ferrari friends and we didn't really know the area. So we were following the route directions and we really didn't want to miss dinner, so we figured we just had to grin and bear it. We finally found our way to the restaurant and walked in, like a bunch of drowned rats. The entire Porsche Club was already there, enjoying their drinks and appys. Seems that if you knew your way around the area, you could have just abandoned the route and taken a quick 5 minute drive to the restaurant.
Someone reached out and sent me pictures he took last year, pretty cool. He owns the blue Pantera Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great front end and engine bay.. but looks very much WIP bodywork. Id think california mirrors would be great, not sure about the.. testorossa monospeccia mirror (?) but Is a job ever done? is that a fuel tank in the trunk? And with no front spare wheel, whats are the weights on each tire fully loaded.. must have needed some ballast / rebalancing.
It will always be needing bodywork as I’m keeping it in its original steel with all the hits and fabrication, the next guy can paint it. I have another Ferrari with California mirrors, they are terrible and can’t see. I widened the cars bodywork 14” so the only way I can see behind is with the flying mirror. There is no trunk so the fuel cell hangs out there. The car weighs nothing, it’s all engine but the speed limit here is 35 on the street (I do 43) and I’m usually 75mph on the freeway. The car drives and tracks better than the other 3 I have. It’s a machine to have fun in, no other purpose
Dave, plenty of pristine 308s out there. If you haven’t already, go back to the beginning of the thread and see what Mr Vonbarron started with. I don’t see a lot of folks out there with the desire to bring something like this back from the brink, so if saving a 308 means giving someone like Mr Vonbarron carte blanche to bring their unique vision to light, I’m more than OK with it.
Made a little wing this morning, mostly the hide the dings in the roof, but there was always a plan for this piece that will go together with an air intake. It’s a quick version as the car is going for a photo shoot next Sunday. I’m in negotiations with a possible new owner. It’ll be sad to see it gone as new guy is not a Ferrari guy and most likely will never be seen again Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I see a bit of a black Mondi in one of those pics. Maybe you're the guy who took a lap through the neighborhood a few weeks ago. We live up a nice little section of twisty-turny that some people know about. It's good for testing and tuning... Glad you didn't bomb through the neighborhood like some ner-do-wells.
SSSSSSnake hill kills. That’s my quick test loop, up the snake, right on 32, right down providence then lake road
I'm pretty sure I know the road you are speaking of. It's a good one too. Especially if you catch it during a light travel time. Up or down the hill, it's fun both ways. Makes going over to Met Market for a jug of milk well worthwhile. If you just keep going straight instead of turning off, there is a fun little section heading back down to the lake. I guess it was someone else in a black Mondi.
Not yet but it’s going, I’m concentrating on three F projects so these two are going. I did take it for a buzz and washed it yesterday Image Unavailable, Please Login
