    I own an f1 cs, a gated scud, an f1 430, a gated 430 and a gated 360.

Have you driven a gated cs or scud?

maybe you should offer an example and describe the f1 in CS so we understand?

@ttforcefed You can't compare how a CS feels in F1 to how it feels gated. I've had it both ways and the F1 is a joke once you've driven a gated one (and I've driven an F1 CS since converting mine to manual). If the parts weren't worth anything I'd have thrown all my F1 parts in the bin by now. Can't reason with the purists lol.

@collegeboy - cars looking awesome. So excited for you.

Yeh im not sure what type of scientific response he is looking for. Driving the cs f1 around town is not an enjoyable experience. Gated is amazing whether it’s a 1-2 shift crawling at a stop side or at redline.

I don't like ANYONE bashing the hallowed CS - everyone HANDS OFF (!) please.....

Now that's out of the way I would just like to say that I have done a lot of detailed calibration work and code improvements on the CS in recent years and actually I have successfully dialed in all the shifting to be pretty much perfect. This means the shifting now has much better, tighter tolerances than the factory did, all from the engine side of things to keep things simpler to upgrade. The net result is actually the F1 system is much smoother and faster to shift, coupled with my instant torque upgrades and other detailed improvements the CS is improved significantly.

I did these upgrades / revisions to Sam Fane's (Seen Through Glass) before he took his car on an epic road trip to South of France where he did some wonderful fly by drone shots. Its a must see video if you haven't already seen it. He loves the way it drives now.

So while I absolutely love gated shift on the 360 (and the CS does suit it too) all is not lost if you want to give the CS that little bit more speed and more finesse!

It really was nice with his tune. I just don't like the complexity and there is just too much to go wrong. I'm weird like that but wanted to simplify the car and was just tired of F1 issues even though everything can always be fixed. I honestly enjoyed it driving fast and slow and always said if the F1 system was as dependable and simple as my foot, hand, and brain, I'd always keep it, but that's obviously impossible. I have deleted just about everything else that can be deleted off the car, and it has removed a LOT of wiring, hoses, valves, solenoids, canisters, computers, etc. This is the final part to delete. All while still being reversible if ever wanted later on.

    Examples:
    - "The F1 CS is capable of fast gear shifts"
    - "When shifting up in race mode the F1 CS jolts similarly to race transmissions of that era"

Shift times and jolt are parameters that can be measured, compared to other cars/systems and thus meaningfully discussed. Pros & contras can be weighed against each other etc.

Contrast this to your argumentation which is somewhat alike a small child having a crying fit but being unable or unwilling to articulate what exactly its problem is.

Or in other words: If you make an extreme claim (e.g. "the F1 CS is undriveable") and the only reasoning you can come up with in support of this claim are variations of "I just don't like it", it does not reflect very favorably on your mental capabilities.

And fwiw in a recent video ryan friedman calls the f1 system in the cs terrible, so I’m not the only with this view.

Contrary to your belief, I don't have any problem with your views, everybody is entitled to their opinion.

All I did was trying to assess how much value your opinion has (to me) - i.e. solely an information gathering process. Typically this process is as unemotional as it gets, but in this specific case your replies have brought me some amusement, which does count as emotion :) ... so thank you for that, I guess.

and btw, im not trying to dissuade you from getting a CS. have had mine for 15 years now and no intention to sell it. if i were in the market now id be looking for a high mile car knowing id convert it. the CS is up there with the F40 when it comes to emotion. sick effing car.

I think people aren't comparing apples with apples.

Over the decades I have seen many 360's so badly maintained that they aren't even pulling enough power to see off a hot hatch, in the worst cases as low as 300hp. After diagnosing and fixing the issues causing these low power figures along with some work on the ecu's they go back up to rude health and running +140hp upto 440hp!

... The F1 system too, if its (Point of Initial Slip) PIS isn't set correctly it can be a pretty horrid experience. Sadly it wasn't until F430 MY08 upgrade that Ferrari actually added the sensor and software functions to enable the F1 system to auto adjust the PIS and keep it set perfectly at all times. What this means is that any F1 car below that is likely to be driving with clutch alignment that isn't optimal, depending on how far out this is you'll experience a car that drives progressively worse. Add in worn clutches, old flywheels and deferred maintenance and your experience of one CS over another will vary wildly. Just like my experience when I help people to restore all the lost power in their 360's by replacing worn out coil packs, spark plugs and primary o2's. Experiencing just a single example isn't enough to form a good evaluation of all CS cars.

You are obviously the expert but why Jack with all that stuff when one can own one of the very last manual shift Ferrari’s with a simple swap ?
    That’s the future of 360s , 430s and 599s IMO .

    If it’s all about speed get a 488 .

My 360 is faster to 50mph than a 488... actually timed it faster than a 488 Pista to 50mph... but yep its the gated shift (and gear ratios) that ensure the Pista just pips me to 60 !

If I want to go silly fast (for which you need a track and NOT a public road)...

I use my purpose built all carbon bodied (and chassis) track spec 800hp+ McLaren.. :)

If I want the most thrilling, engaging drive with the most enjoyable tactile shift and challenge I'd take the 360...

and if I had to choose between which one I would keep, it would be the 360 even though I now love the McLaren too and pretty much nothing can stay with it, even latest GT3 RS's and the like. Guess the 1 tonne of downforce at vmax helps :)

I think a big factor in the perception of the F1 system is experience with other automated single clutch transmissions. I like my F1 somewhat but it bothers me knowing how subtly better other systems are. I'm not in a rush but will be converting to manual next clutch change or if an expensive F1 part breaks.
