Couldn't help but notice that there are currently more Wanted posts for 458's than there are For Sale posts under FChat individual classifieds. Also in the last few months when i search various Ferrari dealer websites for used Ferraris there are usually few if any 458's or 458 spiders for sale and the ones that are listed usually dont last more than a few days.

It seems overall that 458 prices have been flat or slightly up over the last few months. Based on the thin inventory it seems to me that 458's may be poised for one of those quick run up's in price that have been observed in other exotics.

    Agree? Disagree? Opions?

certainly possible. a lot depends on the economic cycle, where we end up with the much hypothesized “soft landing” etc.

ps this is not a political post in any way.

    it’s also nothing revelatory

I'm in the market for a 458 I watch them daily. Prices are not flat, certainly not up and cars have sat on the market for months and months.

An enthusiast forum is a not a good place to get a gauge on the real world market. I do believe that 458's will eventually appreciate the same way any of the "good" classic Ferrari's do but it's a long way off and it certainly isn't happening now, it's quite the opposite actually.

I fully agree as I have been looking daily for a 458 also. The last two months cars really stoped moving. I think they’ll hold in value with a slight increase over many years.

For you daily lookers, what is the market looking like currently?

I bought my 36k mi 2010 in feb for 162k. Afaik, it was the lowest clean title at the time, have they dropped below that?

You're not far off you got a good deal for February. Obviously a lot of different variables here but there are multiple in that ballpark on the market right now but those are "asking" prices of course.

I don’t believe that the 458 will become a highly collectible car.
It does have a little more market value than the F430 which preceded and the 488 which replaced it.
So buy a good one at the best price and enjoy the driving experience

    Yup. Too many made.

They will be enthusiastically purchased. Like a 66 Ford mustang or a 69 Camaro.

Great cars and great for enthusiasts just too many made to be collectible. But... That's a good thing. Prices wont go stratospheric.

    my 2 cents:

I searched all the usual sites WEEKLY for over 2 years before finding my 458 in May 2024. I kept notes on what the market was from 2022. I still check those sites weekly. I believe the market is still holding strong for desirable specs. Those with large MSRPs are few and far between and seem to not last very long until sold. Those with low-mid specs seem to last until the price is right.

Over the last month, inventory does seem to be lower but inventory was never crazy like a 911. Only the later model (2016 to 2010) Aston Martin Vantage V8 had even less selection (I know this because I just sold my 2016 AM V8).

TL;DR the right build and the right price will always fetch a quick sale but the market has not softened substantially from where it was a year or two ago.

I doubt it goes parabolic because there isn't a low supply. I do think they will be desirable in the long run and popular overall. Just not 'investment' grade cars. Speciale excluded from that statement.

I looked nationwide on a daily basis for 8 months for a low mileage, good color, accident free 458 spider that was highly optioned and passed a ppi. Not many for sale, and prices for cars with specs like I purchased seem to be going higher right now which had surprised me. The cars I see sitting or lower prices are higher mileage, low optioned and not great colors (i.e. if you like black cars, there are tons for sale).

Just my .02 from a recent buyer.

I got my ‘12 Spider three years ago. Red tan, red thread, lifter, LED wheel etc. 7k miles. Upgraded wheels and audio. Red calipers.

I’ve seen exactly two since with that spec and neither has been near what I paid. Very thankful.
