I just wanted to share a recent experience that I had with Tom Vail's All Ferrari Parts.

I have been looking for missing sections for my F355 Workshop Manual for a while, off and on and I inquired about one of those sections that they had in stock, it was even listed on their eBay store:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/153630410650
    Image Unavailable, Please Login

It was $111.00. I called them up to buy it- trying to do them a favor so they wouldn't have to eat eBay and Pay Pal fees. The gentleman put me on hold, ended the auction so that I couldn't buy it and, told me that he was "sorry there must be some mistake, it isn't in the box; Someone else must have bought it."

Approximately one week later (last Friday) it was then relisted at $595.00. They even kept the same picture from the previous listing.

I confronted them about this yesterday and they never denied it or even tried to make it right. They just said "This is the last one for sale so the value has changed."

After confronting them about it and writing an honest Google review, today they updated the listing to include the Vol.2 binder. I am sure they knew this post was coming.

Yes, they did break the seal on the section. :(

There is a reason why they don't have a traditional shopping cart on their website. Instead they have a "request cart" I can only surmise it's so that when you do buy the price goes up depending on if they feel they can screw you for more.

These people will lie to your face and play games to get as much money as possible out of you.
    They have no honor.
    Avoid this place Ferrari friends.

I too have had bad experiences with them. They’re a nasty place to do business with. :(

Thanks. Too many people who’ve had bad experiences don’t want to post the name of the vendor, which makes their post just complaining or sympathy pandering. Except as “an object lesson” the posts are useless to readers.

I agree. The Ferrari world isn't that big. I can't imagine ruining your company's reputation over a few hundred dollars.

They’ll point to their eBay rating and say they’re all good.

    I understand.
What really gets me is that I was simply trying to help them and instead I got screwed.

They may point to their eBay ratings but the only reason why they can is because (as we all know) eBay has a lot of protections for buyers and they can't get away with their normal antics.

All we can do is continue to document this behavior and warn others.

I've ordered from there, initially they had the sent me an incorrect part, and when I confronted them they wanted me to pay the difference for the correct part. I sent them a polite email asking them to take responsibility, and they did the right thing so I have no complaints. It does sound like they did you wrong in this case which is disappointing.

I will say though, that as our parts get more and more hard too find, there are some vendors that know they have you by the balls and act accordingly.

I'll second @Ricambi America for parts. Not sure if they have that particular manual but I've never had a negative experience with Dan. I was even sporting their hat last week at the annual experience...

If it's a good price then I would just have hit the buy now button and been done with it. Locked in with ebay policy.

Ricambi or bust. Love eurospares as well but income duties can be $$$$.

I agree but if that is the case you should have increased the price BEFORE someone goes to buy it. If you don't know the value of your inventory that is your problem.

In hindsight you are completely correct. I was just trying to help out by not having the money go to fees. How wrong I was.

I sure wish I could say the same!

I got the same bait and switch from them once (and only once) on some gaskets I needed in a pinch that no one else seemed to have domestically. They had attractive pricing which was 30% more or so when I called to order. I was new to the brand then, but still seemed shady

Damn Paul, they did you dirty. I’d try to meet them in the middle on price if possible. Maybe $100 was too cheap lol.

I’ve actually had good experiences with them and they seem to carry odd/old things other vendors don’t carry. I’ve also asked for significant discounts from higher advertised prices on old stock stuff that doesn’t move and they seem to be willing to lower prices to move them. They won’t give em away though, but they’re certainly negotiable.

I agree. It’s not really an online operation. Rather, a call them and see if they have it type of place. And if they do, get the price. I dont think they’re attempting the bait and switch.

This is how they operate. It appears that if they sense they can get more out of you, they will do all the tricks to do it.
I will not give that place a dime. It isn't my responsibility to put a price on their eBay listings- it is theirs. If it was too low then they should have paid attention to their listings.
I can't buy it anyway. Another FChatter scooped it up- they were attempting to do me a favor by scanning the pages. It is enormously kind of them but is not at all what I wanted this for.

I don't think its a bait and switch. That would be luring someone in for one product or service and convincing them to get something else that isn't what they need. I consider their behavior outlined in this thread to be simply the shameless attempting to screw a customer.

I tried to do business with Vail for valve stems for my 360. Without going into detail, I ended up not buying from Vail as he just simply seemed to make it difficult with which to do business. Should have been a simple transaction as he supposedly had the factory stems in stock. That was my first and last experience doing business with him.

I'm sorry! Easy solution: Go to Ricambi or Maranello Concessionaires in the UK.
