Good. I was worried that using the F1 launch control might have burned up some of the clutch. (Just kidding. I short shifted the entire time.)

It’s interesting that some owners don’t know how to properly shift the F1. Heck…even my 05 Maserati Quattroporte with it’s really slow Cambiocorsa still has clutch left after 50k miles on the odo.

Yes, clutch life seems reasonable on the F1 if treated sympathetically. Mine was 49% remaining at 39k miles when I bought it.

Problem is there's no way to treat the clutch sympathetically on the F1, its programmed to operate as it does no matter how good one might be with the 3rd pedal on a manual. With the F1 it's a matter of how frequently it is engaged at low speeds, hills and reverse / parking maneuvers that wear the clutch and the other parts of the F1 mechanism. I likely would have enjoyed the F1 more if I lived someplace it was more naturally attuned to, with more open road and less traffic to deal with.

Mine is 71% remaining with 38,000 miles. I am typically shifting in the 4000 range plus . The engagement seems better and I believe that has contributed to the longer life. That is – if you believe in the diagnostic equipment regarfing clutch life.:)

I guess what I'm suggesting is that clutch life doesn't seem to be unduly compromised by F1 shifting from what I've read and the real world experiences reported here.

I had been following that one as well.
seems strange to own a salvage title car and then not have a long hold and enjoy the car.

That car is a now a heap. I know the former owner - the car lived on Palm Beach and was a nice example in a great spec at the time, but I suspect the flooding was salt water if it happened while he owned it.

Between the salvage/rebuilt title (potentially w/ salt water entering the equation... good luck to the components exposed to that), airbag light (airbag lights can be a big deal and this could signal electronic hell down the road due to the flooding), EAG curse (with cables no less, as Henryr said, total non-starter) - there is almost no car I'd trust less long term.

I also love the ongoing lie about rods being miserable to drive. Anybody who uses that lie to substantiate cables is simply not somebody to trust.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone posting on here. I've been trying to find a TDF/Nart over tan 575 to convert for about 10 months now with no luck so in the meantime, I've just been researching the process and every time I check this thread, I find out something new about the process and what is available. When I finally find a car, I feel like I am much more prepared to make the best decisions on shop/parts/upgrades, etc. Looking forward to posting my experiences and I'm sure I will have questions for the group along the way. If anyone knows of a blue/tan car that is for sale, please let me know. Getting tired of just observing the fun from the sidelines. Thanks again.

Yes, not surprised given the car's history... Not sure what the seller expected to get but I would have been satisfied with $138K.

Well that 599 did not reach reserve at $155... Market is soft these days for sure, though I'm guessing some of the other modifications made to the car were not seen as positives by potential bidders. Swapping to a 6 speed is one thing and generally viewed as acceptable if the car was originally offered as a manual, but messing with a Ferrari engine as was done here is something else entirely (IMO.)
