oh ok, so we cant use phones anymore? I saw that other thread but didn't know what tappytalk was (and definitely dont wanna know with a name like that).... it kinda filled my day while at work to be able to check on my phone but I guess, I'll just check at night when I get home if I have time.... probably best to reduce my addiction to ferrarichat anyway.

Tapatalk is a front end app that you can logon to all your forums - it pushes you updates to subscribed threads with notifications to your phone
Much easier than browsing the native website on the phone .. BTW - the native website when you browse on phone will provide you with alerts ( new posts in threads you subscribe to) .. just not as friendly

I preferred the feel of the Ferrarichat app, but didn't like how the notifications didn't work on it. I suppose I'll just have to get used to the browser.

I can't believe you did this to all your subscribers . With NO notice!! I guess I'll find out how to deal with withdrawals from a addiction. Very Sad

WTAF?!?! I deleted and re-downloaded the app because I thought it was my phone. Definitely need to migrate over to Fora. I guess it’s better than no app at all.

Same. Aside from notifications not working it felt much more user friendly.

I agree. It felt much easier to keep track of watched forums from the app than it is for me now through a web browser.

Same issue here. Disappointing as I liked Tapatalk for ease of subscribed forums. I’ll have to shortcut the web page

"NO notice" like the email that was sent over a month ago to anyone who had used the app, and the resulting threads that were posted about it?

This is brutal. The app was great. Hopefully we see the app back at some point!

    1) We did send an email to all app users we could identify a couple weeks ago, if your account email not up to date or it goes to your spam, then you wouldn't have seen it. There are also some users we couldn't identify as app users.

    2) We had the app 15+ years ago when the forum software wasn't mobile responsive, the underlying software hasn't been supported for awhile and the current forum software is very good with mobile browser.

We can do an app based on the current mobile responsive forum, but not much different than mobile browsing. The old app software wasn't supported on their side for years and they took traffic and monetization. There were real risks to our users security and also our community by keeping it plugged in without updates or support.

I would add to the above that whilst using a mobile browser is “fine”, the app did make a bunch of stuff easier- mainly checking for updates on threads I’d participated in. I suspect it drove increased engagement too- I for one found loads of threads via the “new posts” section that I wouldn’t otherwise have gone looking for. Be interesting then to see if there’s any drop off now that the app is gone.

to the contrary, they hadn’t supported the software in 5+ years, so security risks not even counting risk of more bugs and falling all together. They also could steal your data, take our data as their own and then they were monetizing it. Does that sound like something we should support for our users? I know some were fans, but usage was crashing. Down from 2,500 users last year to 1,000 this year.

why can’t you use this for new posts?

Per the other chat, clearly I am not. Data security is critical, but its fair for me to say that I would hope that another app is found which provides similar benefits and has the up to date security features.

The method above for new posts is undoubtedly less user friendly, but clearly it is functional. I don't believe there is a way to keep track of updates on threads I have contributed to though is there?

Mark me down for being highly disappointed about the Tapatalk App's cease of operation. I understand the security aspect I suppose, but going on the Fchat site through a 6-inch screen is a pain in the ass, to say the least. The Tapatalk app was so so easy.
