BMW 1-2 with 26 mins to go.
All the GTP manufacturers had a car impounded after Indy. https://www.dailysportscar.com/2024/09/22/imsa-impound-gtps-after-indy-race.html I am guessing this is something routine and not so much suspect of foul play since they are checking everyone.
Unfortunately, race day is also Yom Kippur, and I'll be at home fasting. I wonder if there are any Jewish drivers who will abstain from driving in the race?
I have a feeling tomorrow's race is going to be wild. PLM is always a crazy race but I think tomorrow will be next level. Can't wait! Image Unavailable, Please Login _7503980 by Alex Eichmiller, on Flickr
I only see 3 of the 10 hours televised on NBC mother ship. Anyone know where the rest of the telecast is airing?
The Ricky Taylor accident shows a serious deficienly that needs to be corrected before next year's race. I saw a yellow flag waving, but at night flags are worthless. Road Atlanta needs to add a light system, with red, yellow and green lights all around the circuit, that would replace the like-colored flags as darkness approaches. I think that if a yellow light had been flashing, the accident would not have happened.
that's why they have the in car yellow light screen, but in this crash it hadn't illuminated yet, so unlikely a trackside yellow light would have been activated either even if it somehow had, coming over a blind crest, screened by other cars, in the dark I'm not sure the outcome would have been much different. maybe slightly slower impact speed
Even a local yellow, with an in-car light, should have been shown much sooner than 20 seconds. I think the flagman would then be at fault here.
Some of the 296s during Friday qualifying at turn 10B. The #34 won GTD and the #62 was second in GTD PRO, so a decent weekend for the Prancing Horse. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
there was a rather vigorous local yellow at the top of the hill, but no FCY/info system activation. that's on race control, not the marshals nice shots! funny to see Inception drop their McLaren for a 296. 296 is such a pretty car
There are a few places around the track that do have flashing yellow lights. There is one as they come up the hill to turn 5 but not at the post where that accident happened. Those lights only come on for full course caution so wouldn't have helped in this situation. They needed to go FCY immediately.
I walked through the paddock after the race and it was interesting to see WTR stripping the wrap off their cars and all the spares. i assume there was a waiting MSR trailer there somewhere. Also interestingly Pfaff was stripping the wrap off their McLaren. I wonder if they are changing manufacturers for next year. They had a very un-Pfaff like year.
I could see Pfaff going back to Porsche it’s a shame the 720 GT3 hasn’t worked out better, but it is kinda on brand for mclaren
