I pulled into my driveway, turned off motor. Then came back to car and it would not shift out of neutral with the F1 icon on the dash. I turned off the battery, turned it back on and everything works again.

Who do you recommend in SF Bay Area to diagnose F1 system on 2002 575M.

So I reread all the criteria posted that I could find on F1 operations
    1. first time in morning open door and the pump operates for 11 secs. should be 10-20 secs
2 key on engine off. time between pumps was 4:30 min. should be greater than 2 minutes
    3. key on engine running. time between pumps was 2:25. min should be greater than 1 min

    everything checks out

    any ideas?

It would be great to / pull codes

Based on above ..could be one the sensors ,. potentiometers or even a clutch position sensor

I am leaning towards potentiometers ..need a scan tool to verify before throwing parts

I would perform a bleed and a relearn first though

took out for a 30 minute run and then transmission would not shift going 60, slowed down and it went to 3 then started home and then able to shift up again, got within 2 miles of home and tranny stuck in N, called for tow. Took over 2 hours for tow, and just before he got there everything back to normal. So something happens when fluid gets hot. Will be at shop tomorrow for diagnostics

Now that you mentioned the scudding relay beeping .. it has to be pressure related ...a quick recreate and look at data stream will immediately show if pump is failing, leaking solenoid, leaking /collapsed accumulator when hot .. I was originally thinking the sensors but that wouldn't have the relay beep...

Also not proven ..have heard the scudding relay react and cause no power to pump

I am sure the shop.will figure it out quickly

The mechanic says the F1 is not keeping pressure as we thought. Likely accumulator and he suggests replacing pump as well while in there.
