This is a booster seat that will properly deactivate the airbag in your 458, Speciale, FF, F12 and other similar vintage F-cars (using a transponder technology called BabySmart).

The actual model is a Mercedes KidFix. For some reason Ferrari never sold a compatible seat to turn off the airbag in the US. Discussion of this specific booster (and photo of it in race seats) here:

This was used a couple times in a Speciale. But looks like new, stored in a storage bag in a clean dry garage.

$200 + shipping (or preferably) pick-up in LA (its big). These cost over $500 originally and as far as I can tell they are no longer available.

How’d you get the rear clip in btwn the headrest and top of the seat? (Being that the headrest doesn’t move and isn’t adjustable)

Agreed, great deal. FYI - You can take the discs out and Velcro them to the bottom of a new booster seat so it turns off the airbag and you get a newer/safer seat.

For all buyers and seller - check the date on these as car seats expire BUT you can take the transponders/rf tags out so you can still turn off the airbag while using with a more current seat

I found one in the UK that I am waiting for a friend to ship me if all works out. These can be tough to find - so strange when this is a feature in many cars and they NEED this one type of car seat.

I’m not sure on this particular one, but I had the same issue on my ff. I took the belt off the car seat, fished it through the headrest since it could slide through and then reconnected to the seat. Huge pita but it works

do you happen to know which “transponders” are required?

is this the same on 488 w race seats? i know my seats have isofix and there is a latch connection point behind passenger seat, but not sure about this airbag defeat stuff.

    thank you for any info!

    Sorry Im not quite sure.

Mercedes Kidfix seats were equipped with Automatic Child Seat Recognition (ACSR)

They have (2) transponders in the base that are supposed to deactivate the front airbag when placed on the passenger front seat for when you have a child in a car seat. For some reason, these are impossible to find, ferrari and porsche dont make compatible seats.

I saw a pair on ebay back in may I almost bought but it was before I even purchased my ferrari. I ended up ordering one on ebay UK to a friend who is going to ship them to me. This is what the transponders look like. Even expired car seats on ebay US are listed for like $500+.
