If true he had a good run in the sport. Better than most!

    266 GPs, 3 poles, 32 podiums, 17 Fastest Laps, and 8 wins.

Nothing to be ashamed of, but realistically, Ricciardo declined as soon as he left Red Bull.

Very weird indeed, clearly dominated Ocon in Renault and then absolutely annihilated by a rookie called Norris in Mclaren..
Lost his mojo ( Daniel was genuinely quick ) because of money ?

Perhaps Yuki is better than he is being given credit for.

RedBull are not appearing to feel he is worth the risk of moving forward to main RedBull. They have had how long?

Ricciardo is officially out and Larson is in. So many DR fans are crying how unfairly he has been treated. Popularity always seems to trump reality it seems. I like DR, he was awesome 2014-2016. But once he went to McLaren he has been a liability to a team's results ever since. No disrespect but DR should be able to beat Tsunoda. IMO, RB is absolutely justified in giving Ricciardo the boot.

Lawson did a great job last year when filling in, and deserves his shot.

I saw those kind of comments too - but it's hard to agree with that outlook. By most accounts a nice guy (except for that thing he would do with his shoe) but results aren't there. This isn't a surprise - many drivers have been booted for less - and he had a good run plus given plenty of opportunities to prove himself.

I was surprised when Ricciardo was given a second chance in the Red Bull organisation, and also that he lasted so long.
Compared to how he was competitive prior to moving out, he was less than impressive in his second coming.

    We are in full agreement.

I'm super excited for Lawson. If he consistently outperforms Yuki, TSU will get the answer to his burning question: ‘Why am I still stuck in this position?

I was just as shocked as I said almost 3 years ago RIC is done (to many detractors here I might add), but I respected RB for giving RIC a golden opportunity, alas—now there’s no room for excuses (you would think.)

I see RIC fans hard coping by spinning some 'conspiracy theories' about why Yuki has almost double the points. Ah, the state of the world today

fast forward 1 year. Yuki is also beating Liam Lawson.

F chat's opinion: Lawson has to go. But Yuki also has to go.....

You’re not wrong. junior team is tough, you have to over perform. I don’t hold anything personal on either, on the contrary, love both Yuki and Lawson.

It’s just they don’t give out points for likability. Isn’t that why we love the sport? Today’s world you can spin everything. That’s why I like the sports page, either the lakers won or they didn’t.

Horner did say they should or will release him after this year most likely. Now Honda has definitely moved on. I dont see him as marketable as 1 team and a major supplier have essentially released him overall. I would not be surprised if he is gone by summer.

As Honda distances itself from Tsunoda, what are his F1 options?
The manufacturer has clarified that Tsunoda is “fundamentally an independent driver” with sponsorship from Honda, and that it no longer needs to negotiate deals for him

Liam finished 12th in China. Yuki finished 12th in Japan.

    Where's the improvement?

Neither of them is close to Verstappen, which was the reason for the swap.

Meanwhile, Hadjar finishes 8th - he lost one position to Hamilton's Ferrari though.

Wow. NO preseason testing and a severely fractured practice session in a notoriously difficult to dive car. It will take 3 or 4 more races before he has the seat time that. Lawson had in the car. He already appears better sorted, but time will tell. These posts won't age well for one of us. We will circle back.

BTW, how did Lawson look this weekend in a new car with minimal seat time? Against a driver with whom Yuki was at least evenly matched.
