Weld a cap on -- super simple. And use copper anti-seize on the threads. That's a giant nut in a place with plenty of room to get on it square. You won't have a problem getting it off.

Can you source a 15/16" cap nut? That would be 23.812mm and perhaps you could open that up to 24 x 1.5? Or maybe 7/8" would be easier? Just depends if there is enough material to drill and tap to 24

So I had a rummage about in the garage to see what I could do with the tube nuts. I found a couple of dome headed bolts that fitted into the air pipe nicely, so welded up & filed down.

I looked at all my high-temp paints and found some “zinc” spray and hit it with that.

I’m going to give them a try and see how they hold up.

Thank you, they turned out better than I expected but I reckon they will look a bit rough after a few months because I doubt the coating will take the heat, but if they work OK over the summer then I'll probably send them out for electroplating next winter.

Exceptional creativity to get around your issue! I love seeing this type of thing for our cars.

I think the part is far enough away from the main heat of the headers that 490* C (over 900* F) should be sufficient to protect the paint.

Has anyone confirmed that there's no CEL from deleting SAI on a 5.2 355? Would love to do this. SAI is so stupid.

Would a leak in the secondary system cause an elevation in positive fuel trims?

Hmmm...from a thread a few years ago. Makes sense that removing SAI on OBD2 cars would trip a CEL, it does on 993's from the same era which use the same 5.2 ECU's. @Rifledriver

Secondary air is stupid? Its one of the smartest most effective, and cost effective smog control methods ever used.

Also I don’t think the euro version had the SAI ? Doesn’t throw a CEL on those 5.2s fwiw

where did you source the M16-1.5 plugs? Fabspeed headers have this size port for their 355 application and I want to block them off. Depth is only 6mm though before a bolt bottoms out. So I need short plugs, maybe 8-10mm long with washers.

These M24 x 1.5 cap nuts cost a couple of quid from Ali Express, quality is fine:

Search for "2pcs Metric Hydraulic Tubing Inner Tooth Plugs Cap Bulkhead Metric Thread M14 M16 M18 M20 M22 M24 M27x1.5 oil nut plug"

I've also ordered something similar in 304, which were a bit more expensive, but haven't arrived yet. Search for "BSP NPT Metric Female Thread 304 Stainless Steel Hex Head End Cap Plug Pipe Fitting Adapter Connector"
