If the name does not reference the twin LeMans wins particularly 2023 victory then the marketing team have missed a golden opportunity for story telling. So many stars aligned... The Centenary LeMans, Ferrari back after 50 years, the 499P's debut and its 10th overall victory.

I will be surprised and perhaps a little disappointed if the car is not called a 499 something... or a something LM

Wouldn't that cause too much confusion between this car and the 499P Modificata track car?

    True,
I guess (hope) F80 will be the winner.

It was not an issue for say the McLaren P1 GTR... Personally I think 499 LM Stradale would be prefect.

Stradale was used in the SF90 name.

To me, LaFerrari is exactly what its name says - it is THE Ferrari, and the LAST of its kind, V12, TOP LEVEL CAR, Ferrari built.

(Yes, they knew what was coming next, and as such, they signed also the end of a specific era)

And with the strong meaning behind it, I doubt that it was just taken because of the lack of a better name ;p

Rear is absolutely gorgeous, in comparison W1 is in a « No man’s land « design.

In person the car is most spectacular from the front in my opinion - I kept staring like a rabbit in the headlights …. Headlights were cool too !!

In Enzo’s case this was an honorary title; in my case it’s what I do… but in any case that would be an awful name for a car! :)

i don’t have the answers to any of your questions and your business logic makes sense. After the public launch, everyone will be focused on the car and forget about any of these questions. Happens every time. I am just thrilled to drive it.

But the GTR was the track version of the P1. No confusion there.

Yes, that is a better example, but an F1 car and a road car are hard to confuse. A third Ferrari named 499 though? Why not call Ferraris 499 then? :D

Not everyone finds it ridiculous. BTW, do you remember Renault calling the 5 in the US as "Le Car", or VW referring to the Gold as "Das Auto"?

Manzoni imo has always being great in designing the back of the cars. I think he kinda lacks about the fronts

I understand it recalls the NACA scoop design but what can it be used for and what is hinged that requires a coil torsion spring? Just curious.

The front does look amazing and is certainly interesting to look at. As for the NACA scoop, I assume that's the one positioned behind the doors and parallel to the ground? I wonder if it moves depending on speed, accelerating the airflow through the rest of the aero package to further enhance downforce or, maybe, reducing drag in that particular area?

Yes, the ‘NACA’ scoop is behind the cabin. It’s not really a NACA as it doesn’t work as one. It’s basically just a NACA-shaped cut-out in the bodywork—possibly in deference to F40–that leads to an air box, most likely feeding the engine intake…

The air box appears to have a hinged lid that opens, not for any obvious aero function but most likely hiding fuel filler or electrical charge port. This looks like it just popped open or wasn’t closed…

Deep openings over doors can reasonably be assumed to be for cooling rads and intercoolers…

Of course, and no doubt. I was simply speculating on why they might have a moving NACA duct (if, in fact, that's what the hinge in the gift model represents).
