ADM for the first year will bring it closer to a used 296 GTB with low to moderate options. At least in the states. I am guessing MSRP $200-225k US sticker. $275k-$325 actual purchase price (year1) best case scenario.
Fair enough - ~$380k (my 296 MSRP new minus the AF package and carbon fiber wheels), but very *nicely* equipped and adding on a comparable factory standard black wheel package. Best case scenario ZR1 year 1 (maybe even year two) you are saving $70-$80k to buy a Chevy vs. a Ferrari? Yes it will be "cheaper" but you're not going out and buying 2-3 ZR1s year 1, year 2, or even probably year 3 for the same price as a 296. Additionally some of the 296 GTB "used" are little more than "demo" miles that have been garaged or sitting in holding at the dealership with under 1000 miles. You won't be able to get a "used" ZR1 for under the "new" prices I mentioned for a few years regardless. Don't get me wrong it is an awesome car and the base model C8 changed the game imho for American "supercars". It could be a nice addition or replacement for my GT500 CFTP edition. But some of the hyperbola and claims are just a wee bit premature. I am skeptical of the refinement, how it puts the power down, and even reliability of a twin turbo charged flat plane crank over the long haul.
Serious question. Do you have more concerns about a TT Flat-plane V8 putting out 1064 hp or a first generation hybrid powertrain from a company notorious for their battery problems? For me, personally, it's actually a very close call.
Same but I think in this case Chevy does have a slight advantage. Lack of complexity and exclusion of a hybrid battery system that will eventually need to be replaced; hopefully way off in the distant future. Ferrari Battery Warranty program (up to 16 years; replacing on the 16th year) is more reassuring although a bit pricey.
It’s 200 pounds heavier than a Z06 which curbs at 3630. So 3850 with a full tank. That’s 610 BHP per ton. Insane. did you actually weigh your 296 or are you going off a magazine weight? Most customer cars I’ve seen weighed are low to mid 3600’s. I’ll be weighing mine when it arrives.
I have not weighed it yet. I probably should. I have the Carbon Fiber wheels (-18lbs), Assetto Fiorano (-33lbs), Carbon Fiber Seats, and no additions that (would) add weight aside from from the upgraded Stereo maybe? Car and Driver was quoting 3532 when they weighed the AF press car in March. It should be in the 3500s somewhere unless I have a stowaway.
I’d love you to weigh it and report and I’d do the same. I don’t have the AF pack or wheels but I do have the light seats. I’ve seen two cars weighed on the forum at 3650 or so. I’d be curious what yours weighs in reality.
GM published dry weight is 3,670 pounds for the coupe and 3,758 for the convertible. PS. GM does NOT use Maserati scales, their published weights are REAL and acurate.
I weighed myself on a Maserati scale this morning and good news--I weight the same as I did in high school!
Perfect! The MC20 weight LIE was ridiculous…they were off by hundreds of pounds. Did they think no car magazine would weigh one? No matter…still makes a good joke

Is it possible to edit posts on here? I didn't realize there was a dumb spelling error in my previous post. Regardless, the ZR1 looks fantastic! GM has really been killing it with all versions of the C8, IMO. If I didn't already have the 458, I would definitely have a Z06 in the garage, and I'm tossing around the idea of adding a ZR1 down the line. My only issue is that I kind of want a manual car to complement the 458, but 1064 hp might make me think twice about that... Regarding the wheels, I believe the wheels in the first picture were on one of the show cars, and I don't think there's as much contrast between the wheel face colors as there is in the picture. I actually like the look of the wheels in the picture a little better with the contrast in the picture, but all of the ZR1 wheels are nice, IMO.
I’m prolly gonna do the same spec as my Z06. It worked well and hid some of the more awkward elements of the design. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wish you could select stripes on the mini configurator. I like the white with argon interior with the orange stripes
I didn't think I would miss a manual after nearly 50 years of driving them. But...I do want another manual just for fun. I wish I had kept this one!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
WOW!!! >>> 233 mph / 375 kph .......... shots fired >>> Koenigsegg, McLaren, Ferrari ...... >>> Test facility ATP Automotive Testing, Papenburg GmbH >>> https://atp-papenburg.de/en/ https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automotive_Testing_Papenburg .
When they showed the car doing 205+ with the ZTK aero a couple of months ago, I was thinking maybe 217-220 for the regular car… This is really amazing and very cool that Reuss did the driving.
Bugatti says; um, EXCUSE me ..... This is the same track Bugatti went 300 mph 5 yrs ago. >>> Chiron Super Sport 300+ >>> $4+ MILLION dollars .
