Even more point that he was treated more than fair. He basically was put on a performance improvement plan, still got fired because of lack of performance and the team, the drivers, the media, the fans all gave him a farewell in some form or another. What the hell do people want, a parade? A planet named after him?

"What the hell do people want, a parade? "

No kidding. If you look at the F1 website, and all of the accolades they are pouring on him, you would think he had 80 wins, not 8.

Ricciardo is a likeable and marketable chap, so he should do well with the sponsors in any series he wishes to compete.

Would love to see him go to Indy Car. Hopefully he isn't allergic to winning like Grosjean is.

RoGro was allergic to winning in F1 as well. I am not saying Danielle is in the same league as Max, Hamilton, Norris, Alonso, etc. But he is definitely several steps above Grosjean.

Grosjean ruined a lot of good drivers championship chances. he was a danger to himself and others.

Difficult to say; Grosjean never had a winning car in F1 anyway.

I believe he was quoted saying that Indycar scares him?

    Certainly Alonso.

His Lotus teammate Kimi was able to win.

I hope you are not putting Romain Grosjean and Kimi Raikkonen in the same category.

Anyway, during the 2 years they were team mates at Lotus, Grosjean had 10 podiums, proof he wasn't totally useless.

He looked promising, but it never quite clicked for him. Then and now he loses his sh*t in the heat of battle, he can't seem to conquer that.

Kimi won some races in the Lotus when they were teammates. RoGro was always a solid mid field guy, but never a top line guy. That's not a criticism, the pointy end of the pyramid is a small place. No one expected him to be a winner in IndyCar after F1, but I think Danny Ric could be. I'm (educated guessing) that his last of the late Brakers style would work well in IndyCar. I don't think Danny ever got to grips with the newer down force cars.

    Exactly.

I've always said Ricciardo's biggest issue is that he's been living in somebody else's shadow. Ricciardo KNEW Max Verstappen was the guy—the future, the star. So, let’s be real: if Daniel ever thought he was going to win a championship, it was exceedingly difficult* to happen at Red Bull with him playing second fiddle to Max.

Now, the man had a choice: stay as the number two on a team that could win world titles, or go lead two teams that were consistently losing and go for #1 And what did he choose?

He chose to leave, thinking Renault (really?) would have the chops, learned quickly and moved to a rising McLaren. It's obvious now, but by the time Mclaren got there, Ric's tank was empty (with Lando out racing him)

I respect the man, always have. You’ve got to shoot your shot. But my sincere guess is the best Ric could’ve ever achieved was being the second driver on a first-place team—many times over.

I got you Ricky Bobby, but if you ain't first, you're last.

That said, to anyone paying attention, he should’ve stayed at Red Bull. Because even if the chance was *slim (and trust me, I doubt it), it was still the best chance he could’ve taken down Max, that's the closet opportunity Ric could have ever gotten to being #1. (I think Nico Rosberg would agree w/ me).

Yep, wrong career moves. Renault and McLaren (then) never looked like sprinboards to a championship.
It has to be said that Red Bull never treat fairly their #2, that's the reason why the situation becomes untenable for some.
By comparison, Bottas was better treated as Hamilton #2 at Mercedes.

100% correct RB has the bride, and then the bridesmaid. I argue the latter is the best position to be if you plan on taking down the betrothed.

I don't see it as a wrong career move on his behalf. He was basically forced out by RB focusing on Max unfairly over Riccardo. Recall Baku 2019 when Danny was clearly faster and coming up to overtake Max? Max did the double move so Danny hit him in the rear taking them both out. RB as usual piled the blame on Danny and the golden boy was innocent. With stupid bias like that, any drive with a will to win would have seen the writing on the wall and left. Unfortunately, Renault was a lousy choice of where to go.

Renault was offering a lot of spondulix to Ricciardo, and he didn't resist.
At the time, it was rumoured to be 3 times what Red Bull was paying him ...

Yeah, that was Horner's fault for that incident. He should have ordered Max to swap with Ricciardo way before the incident.
