Ferrari does not build spouse replacements; it builds cars.
yes you are right I meant the plan before the unveil but the very original as you said changed after Miami and it was much more logical for a 3,6 mln euro car imho
Maybe people outside of the EU are not aware, but to comply to the current EU regulations, for example the new 992.2 GT3 has four catalytic converters plus two gasoline particulate filters. The F80 can't be much different, and such items completely kill the noise. It just is what it is.
I was there, and to be completely honest I was still surprised by the absence of sound. So there are the standards, of course, but Ferrari is preparing the ears for the transition to EV. It's a different atmosphere, another era... and all this lacks soul. As for the design, there are many elements that evoke the Senna on a smooth XJ220 design. Everyone will make up their minds... Knowing me, it's not so bad, but very far from good, even if I know what they wanted to do.
The sound is really poor and weak, especially when considering the world finals context, with all the 458 GT3, 488 GTM and F1 + XX NA cars, or even the 296 Challenge, the F80 is still a road car with all GPF and silencer, so cannot compete in the sound race... For sure F80 XX should be a little bit louder, but don't expect more than 296 challenge or 499 P. The Purosangue V12 sound was also very weak though. so I guess the last real V12 sound is the one produced by FXXK
Is it just me or should the SP3 Daytona have been called the F80 and the F80 been a more one-off series? Not a fan of this design or powertrain or the high production...Seems Ferrari has really gone astray (they aren't the only car make guilty of this in the modern era sadly). 599 SP3's with the NA V12 and a stunning heritage design vs 799 units of a turbo V6 hybrid with an "interesting" design...No contest there...SP3 all day every day.
A lot to say about the Finali... it was far from being fabulous... total lack of soul, a new clientele ... I met Vigna in the paddock, no one recognized him, and it's a bit like the cars produced today... it doesn't breathe Ferrari, far from it... It's clearly the end of an era... Many historical enthusiasts make this observation, and many try to convince themselves of the opposite... it is becoming more of a consumer brand than enthusiasts one... unfortunately
The awful weather didn't help unfortunately, and Vigna feels totally out of place in the interviews indeed, I miss Luca and Felisa but also Camilleri, would have preferred Elkann at this stage, but what I sufered the most is that, after so many times enjoying all the exhibition padillon with all newest cars to see and photograph for all fans, now you need to have a pass which you can't buy online even if you want and they make you feel like you'ìre just a poor guy with normal tickets. There were always many understandable privileges reserved for the VIP, as normal, but to be excluded from all decent covered stands even on saturday, when there was plenty of free seats protected from rain available, and not being able to visit Ferrari cars expo like done in all previous finals at Mugello, Monza and not only, only because now you need VIP pass for everything, was a very bad move...imho, every guy facing hundreds of km to come in Imola despite awful weather deserved to see in person F80 and other models in the dedicated building...but I guess those finals are dead, which is a pity because even with Marchionne that area was still fully open to public... 2015 and 2017 and 2018 world finals, which I personally attended, were on different level, that's sure
How is the F80 sound compared to the F8 engine? IMO, the F8 ranks as the most quiet so far from cars I’ve heard. I truly hope they survive it! IMO full EV is not the answer…
Well, we all hope too, I think EV will just be an experiment for some Tesla/Apple lovers Didn't hear the F8 at full power on a track straight, and rain + GT cars having much more sound presence didn't help the sound, but I would say less noisy than F8, whose engine is basically the 488 pista one, so it has some more sound temper. On the other hand, I also preferred 458 GT2/3 to 488GTE/3 to 296GT3 sound. And most likely 430 Scuderia sound was better than all V8-V6 ones produced after
Unacceptable IMO no matter how fast it is. Might as well just get an EV. I’d save a few million and go with this…. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DBXpbmxpSqJ/?igsh=eGdob3Q2MmdyMmlh
Sad times IMO I’m glad I at least got to see Ferrari at their best. Get every NA/ICE Ferrari you can because they are going to skyrocket if and when they go 100% EV.
Well it's very simple, when you are about to market two EVs and you ask the customer what he thinks of supercar/hypercar EV, at some point a transition in terms of sound must be prepared in order to disaburbish our ears... Anyway, as long as you continue to find "everything" that Ferrari does great and to spend money on it, well it does you a disservice.
Some people are so Ferrari fanboys that if BMW iX, XM or G87 M2 had Ferrari badges, they would have waxed lyrical about the ingenuity of the design and how elegant and beautiful they look.
It would seem so. That account has a lot of on track videos and in all of them the car is almost silent.
