I'm not completely familiar with EU regulations but they often change every fee years. It likey has become more stringent since that car came out. Also... Delivery cars on day 1 were likely fitted with a secondary exhaust. Also the video of the car doing the fly by was on a wet track. So to judge the car on that isnt quiet fair.

An engine developing 900hp isnt exactly quiet.

Even if the battery size is the same it can regen significantly more from the motors on the front axle, so it should be able to discharge for a longer period of time/more often. Due to weight transfer the front brakes do 80% of the job while the rear only 20%. And the regen from the MGU-K on the back axle of F1 cars is thru the gearbox+crankshaft so there are losses there as well. I think the F80 also regens from the rear brakes, as the 296 does. Using those assumptions there is at least 5X more regen from the brakes. I forget the regen split between MGU-H and MGU-K but even so it should have a significant advantage in energy for the F80.

Car looks great IMO. However the V6 is horrible and sounds like trash. Also, did I see $3.5MM? Wow

  5. I wonder how many future owners of the F80 are actually here, either reading and/or posting.

    My guess? Zero.

Which makes all of us either a Karen or Ken, or irrelevant. Or perhaps both.

Since when do car enthusiasts have to own a car to have an opinion?

I’ve seen this viewpoint mentioned a lot lately and it’s seriously messed up. Do you have to own a DaVinci to have an opinion on the Mona Lisa? Can I appreciate Falling Water if I don’t live in a Frank Loyd Wright home?

Or how about football? If I didn’t play college or pro am I allowed to like or dislike a team?

C’mon. Maybe people just need thicker skin if they can’t handle others opinions?

    sincerely,

    the irrelevant Ken

in 10-20 y the hybrid system is a piece of sh!te incl the batteries and ECU (if it is Marelli, you are doomed) even Bosch does not service it for 10+ years.

Exactly… we are enthusiasts…being here on this website means we are we’ll probably most all are Ferrari enthusiasts. Also I’m not a customer for the F80.Id never be invited not can afford one but I want to see the car floor everyone and be exciting.

With that said I like the looks of the car a lot. The F80 looks great moving down the race track. The exterior and interior are great. The tech is cool to me being F1 and 499p derived. However the sound I’ve heard so far is extremely disappointing. Worse than my F8.

Maybe the F8 we saw in the video was not on throttle much or had some preproduction clogged up exhaust. I’ve heard a few 296GTB’s V6 and they sound good. Hopefully delivered F80 will sound a lot better.

I don't know the details, but indeed the 4WD MGU-K + MGU-H sound like they are generating a lot more energy than 2WD MGU-K in McLaren. Therefore I suspect the power deficit to W1 on a race track is significantly less than indicated by the numbers.

Aren't you more or less describing the Icona series?

I think it's great that they make both. I may not be a fan of the F80 styling, and I prefer the SP1/2/3 powertrain. But I credit Ferrari for taking more than one approach to building supercars. And there are plenty of good reasons for people to admire what they've done with the F80.

According to EU 540/2014 regulations which are in effect now, a low volume manufacturer is exempt from the regulated sound levels being applied to passenger cars. A low volume manufacturer is defined as producing less than 1,000 units annually.

Importantly, the Valkyrie activity is not a commercial business owned by Aston Martin. It is in a standalone company formed by joint venture and initial joint ownership by Aston Martin and Red Bull racing. It is a low volume car manufacturer that has nothing to do with Aston Martin’s classification. That’s how the Valkyrie gets around the volume issue. Valkyrie I believe has 150 units. This is an EU regulatory issue. McLaren, Lamborghini, etc won’t be spared.
