    Hi i have a f8 tributo coupe and a f8 tributo spider.
    both were bought brand new.

i use a lot the spider, and very few days the coupe.main reason it is squealing breaks. This summer used only the spider, now took on the coupe.. and the breakes make me put on garage again!
tried some skill with the official mechanic, but seems no solution.

the coupe breakes seems they stay most of time closed ( like
brake pads touching the disc continuosly ) any one has had the same problem and solved it ?
mechaninc tell it is due to prefill breakes ( but both car has it.. and just one make so much noiose while driving )

squeal whil u touch breakes, most time even when u release accelerator ( means the car breakes alone ? ) and sometimes even in reverse!!

    so sad...

I have the same issue, its continuous, they fixed it by skimming the disc's but it has returned again. It can be very loud and a little embarrassing. and annoying especially when fords and chevy's don't have this issue. The mechanics will say it's normal because of the carbon ceramic brake pads, but my last 6 cars have had the same pads with no issue so I call BS. Don't accept the mechanics word. Force them to fix it.

I rarely come to Ferrari's defense but you both have bought racecars that look like streetcars more than streetcars that looks like a racecar. The whole issue is comfort vs. race. Those two are inversely proportional. Ferrari selected its compromises based on its own formula of cost, engineering, laws, and where on the continuum they choose between comfort and race. Your compromises might not be Ferrari's compromise. For example as far back as the 550 maranello a racier brake pad was used as standard. It squeaked more as all race pads do. But it wasn't really a true race pad. The F8 is generations and by design much more racy than a maranello GT car. Could it be using a stock OEM race type pad compound? If it does then it will squeak more. Racers deal with pad "knockback" as something no racer wants. Race brake calipers have anti-knockback springs to keep the pad just barely touching the rotor so that the pedal feel is solid and instant when called upon. Could Ferrari have the F8 calipers with anti-knockback springs? Perhaps. You guys might have a perceived problem there is no real good solution for because the F8 isn't an S-class Mercedes. We just don't know how Ferrari designed this brake system.

Mine only squeal once in a great while and it's usually just once or twice during a drive. Otherwise, totally quiet.

With over 6500 miles on my car, the brakes only squeal if I don't wash the car for more than 2+ months (I know, how can you not wash it in 2 months, right?). Otherwise I never hear them make any noise. Pretty much the same with my G80 M3 Comp.

not sure if my post was clear enough.

i have 2 x f8 ( one is perfect , some squeak , one it is not from day zero )
    same model same break.

i agree carbon pad has to squeak,
but when u have one can that make it twice a day..
and a second car (same model) that make every meter even while u go in reverse ...
seems to me the second car has a real problem.

i have to admit , i do not use the second car due to the "everymeter" noise.. like if the break pads always touch the brake disk ( even if u are 130km accelarating or if u are in reverse mode).

i doubt this is a race car soul, i think it is a mechanical problem.
the post was to check if other ferrari owner had the same problem and solved it.

In theory, the OEM pads do not really require bedding (as race pads do). However, they may be sensitive to some extent - so could it be that, purely by chance, on one car the pads are properly "bedded", and on the other car, not (depending on how the car has been initially driven when the pads were new) ?

On this forum we cannot solve your problem. You need to take the car to a very knowledgable mechanic. A lot can be at play here from how each car was initially used and brakes used to did anyone detail the car and possibly spray tire shine on the tires and over spray got on the rotors since then the pads will not seat optimally to the rotors, to is the brake pad retaining spring need adjusting and so forth.

Brake squeal is the vibration of the pad. So your pads are vibrating as you apply the brakes. This is the difference in friction and play in the caliper where the pads mount.

yes, my guess would be a proper rotor/pad/caliper cleaning--- I'd bet some product got on there that shouldn't be -- or even just some small sand granules-- clean them well

Use a power spray, and clean off the wheels and disc with a high-pressure hose. This usually stops them for a while.

There are some other easy and inexpensive tricks, such as applying grease to the backs of the pads, and griding a small section of the leading and trailing edges of the pads at a 45-degree angle.
