Thanks. All good points. I use to organize a bunch of these a number of years ago so I still have a lot of the good practices on my mind. Mostly SE tracks like Carolina Motorsports Park, Little Talledega, Roebling Road. All those were basically flat though so it will be interesting to get some elevation changes for once.

Ive not raced those tracks but but raced many East Coast tracks. Just know the runoff differences for example running off a dessert track more likely to grab a wheel and roll-over so going off straight is a good idea. Hard dry dirt with good transition you just spin off into the dirt, don't go very far, and get real dirty. East Coast tracks more grass runoff which can be very slippery and trees! Example VIR going up essess looks like lots of runoff until you go off and find the fence because grass is like ice.

Are you tracking with Carbon brakes and OEM Brembo pads ? I read that the OEM pads destroy the disks on the track, I got Pagid RSC1 track pads which are more gentle on the disks and brake better..

It's all stock as far as I know. I don't think the previous owners really did any aggressive driving with the car so I think this is the only track day the car has seen. I believe it should be fine for a few sessions. If I decide to make this a regular thing, I'll likely swap to the Girodisks.

How are the RSC1 pads on the street? My stock ones squeal a good bit if they're not hot.

Just standard iron rotors and stock fluid. Haven't tracked the 430 as yet.

They are great ; no squealing at all. They are higher temp pads so the very first pedal in the morning could be less grabby, but really not an issue.

Are you sure they are stock Brembos? They were quiet on mine always. How many miles on the car? If no aggressive driving, on the CCB the pads should be still fairly good size.

Also, check your oil pump for water or oil leaks! I remove the little cover for the oil filter, and then you can look inside with a flashlight and see if there is any seeping around the oil pump.

30k miles on them now. If I do a few high speed stops, they quiet down for a while. They don’t squeal all the time, just some days for some reason and only at low speed. The previous two owners did every single service at the dealership so I have pretty extensive records. No mention of pad replacement.

Thanks. Added that to my shopping list. My mechanic has me down for RBF600 when I get back. I'm likely tearing down my calipers for a repaint and piston upgrade before I do any more track days so I'm guessing that will be fine? Haven't seen any negatives on it at least.

Wanted to post up in here for future reference. Came prepared to the track with wrenches/jack/etc. I also have a brake fluid moisture tester as linked above but that came after I had left so I didn’t get a chance to use it. We were running 20 minute heats for the first three sessions then a 40 minute heat with open pit so there was a fair bit of driving. I stopped the last run short as I was running low on fuel.

As we all know, the oil takes a while to reach temp so I would idle the car for a number of minutes before my group came up. Overall, zero issues and lots of fun. Everyone was very impressed I took the car out and I was getting compliments the entire day with ride requests as they don’t typically see Ferrari’s on typical track days.

I started the day by trying to apply numbers and track tape to all the potential high wear areas from the road debris. Tried for about 10 minutes but the ceramic coating on the car made it futile. It would just peel off with little effort so I gave up on that idea. My front end is covered in PPF and took a good pounding from rubber chunks/etc but everything cleaned off. The lower edges of the back and behind the tires did get peppered though. It wasn’t pristine before so nothing the casual onlooker would even notice, but I have all my rock chips memorized so it stood out to me :D I need to get full PPF if I decide to make a habit of this.

Brakes were amazing btw, but I wasn’t driving at 10/10. Just fast enough to have fun and not scare myself. Tires are wormed up but still have plenty of life left. We did have someone go off track and flip over which reminded me I wasn’t there to set any records. I’m sure a lot of the guys with S2000’s, Civics, etc were super stoked to be pointed by from a Ferrari.

If you haven’t had a chance to join a local track day, I highly recommend it. At least once during your ownership. You really get to appreciate what your car can do. I went through a track day group called Turn 8 which does them all over and cost only a couple hundred bucks for the full day. After all…

Awesome coverage! Glad you had a good one. I had my first track day today after about ten years, but i chickened out and I took my ladies Cayman instead.
