Yes, and the copy of your report clinched it for me… It wasn’t advertised that the car was owned by Count Richard…Reventlow, but it’s in the report, along with a note that he drove it to the Oldtimer GP at Nurburgring in 1982. He was the half-brother of Lance Reventlow, who as well as being the last man to talk to James Dean, and crashing his plane while scouting out a ski resort at Aspen, was founder of Scarab race team. I own the third F1 chassis, and raced it at the Oldtimer GP this year… I’m not a collector of Reventlow family cars! But the coincidence and the condition (and price) made it seem like I should finally take the plunge on a GTC. Similar color as well! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don’t think so, although the invoices/notes only refer to a retrim. I’m going to take them off unless I find they were original, but don’t think they can be? It has Classiche, with matching engine, chassis, body; replacement gearbox.
I first met Count Richard Haugwitz Hardenberg-Reventlow back in August 1982. At that time 8873 did NOT have headrests. These are after-market add-ons by somebody decades later. Marcel Massini
Saw your Scarab at the Nürburgring this year. Incredible sound of that engine. I think, this Ferrari found you.
thanks, and yes - the Scarab does make a fantastic noise (when it works!), and they do make a good pair, given the histories.
