    Very nice!!

    John, I don't know if you remember but one of the best model builders I have seen brought models to the Ferrari Literature show at Continental. He was from Detroit, although he has now moved to Puebla Mexico. He is an engineer for VW. I loved his white Ferrari 550 M with opening doors. Alot of passion in their work, thru car lovers.

    Normally I would say military modelers are the best, but some of the stuff the car guys can do will blow your mind.

    Finally some progress on my 308 GTB/M build! Getting some colour on the model. A lot of masking to get the white stripes done. Still quite some touch ups needed because of paint bleed. This is my second paint job on a whole 1:18 body, learning all the time. The decal sheet does have the stripes, but most decals on this sheet are too large for the model. I also ran into some inaccuracies on the model itself, mainly the engine hood. I'll have to make some compromises. for example I won't be able to apply the Pozzi decal on the engine hood, but that's okay.

    More progress! Paint is done. Now it's time to reassemble everything. Next up is fitting the scratch built dashboard. Hope it will slide right in! After that some more details like the lightpod, mirrors, exhausts and roof antenna. Final part of this project will be adding the decals.

    The GTB to GTB/M conversion is finally done! It started way back in 2005. The only 1/18 scale 308 at the time was made by Kyosho so I started out with that. I quickly learned that Kyosho models are a pain to disassemble and reassemble and I put it a bit on the back burner. I also didn´t have much space at the time to work on models. On top of that Ottomobile came out with their version of a GTB/M so I left it at that.
    But in 2012 I bought a 308 by Hot Wheels, which was a much easier base to work on. A lot has been done to make it into a GTB/M: rear fender flares, Stratos wheel conversion, completely different interior, shortened rear bumper and license plate recess delete, new front lid accommodating one instead of two wipers, lower front spoiler, Stratos exhaust pipes etc.
    The project nearly went south today with the finish line in sight! The quality of the decals is mediocre to say the least and some started to fold on the model. I applied Microscale Micro Set but it didn't seem to work. I abandoned the project to search on Ebay if there were better decals available, but unfortunately not. The seller I got the decal sheet from has a bit of negative feedback about the quality. Also the size of many of the smaller decals is too large. So I had to leave them out. No big deal, I wasn´t going for a historically correct livery of some certain rally anyway.
    When I got back to the model, to my big surprise the decal had set all by itself! So I was back in business and able to finish off the build.
    It now sits in my display cabinet along a regular 308 GTB, in line with my display theme of 'street versus competition'.

    I'm currently working on another project and have de-chromed a few small plastic pieces by using Mr Muscle oven cleaner. This works amazing. In fact it works so well, the paint is completely gone. Not even any residue in the container in which I put the pieces and oven cleaner. So where does the paint go?? I'm puzzled...
