I’ve never heard the engine personally. I think it’s a gorgeous car, but there is no way that I would own any of these recently produced Ferrari’s long-term due to the over complexity in electronics.

    Texas!
The idea that any new production Ferrari (or Lambo or Mclaren or whatever) is an investment is ludicrous. They are expensive toys. Use them and then trade em back on another new toy. So what if you lose a few dollars on the round trip? If you have to ask...

Interesting comment. I sold my 599 for the same reason and it is light years behind what they are offering now. I enjoy being stuck in the somewhat analog world of the 575 and Challenge Stradale

A guy at my shop bought a F50 new in '95 for $600k, todays its worth $5M ... imagine if that same $600k was in APPL stock!!!! or he bought AMZN at the IPO in '97 ... now THAT would be an insane ROI!!!!

If its true Ferrari doesn't support older products well, all the electronic cars are doomed eventually.

My 360 gated Modena is in that category. While I am not in the red with my car, I don't view it as an investment. I just like being able to drive, enjoy, care, maintain, and pamper it knowing it's not costing me a fortune to do so.

Lol! I'm under 40 and love the 550 and want one. Had a photo on my wall as a kid of the 550 next to a 250 GTO...loved it. Plus the silver 550 and 575 from Bay Boys 2 is pretty cool. :)

Very few Fcars from the 1990s to present have room to go up inflation-adjusted imo. So much money printed in recent years pulled demand forward so I'm not sure how demand can go up more for the older cars. I recently (2023) bought 2 dream cars from my teenage years so no longer in the market for them and others are the same. There is one Fcar I'm looking for overseas, but I'm very particular and won't settle for anything else so probably won't find it.

I'm still a believer of Enzo era V12, with the caveat that they are
truly great specimens . The best of the 275's , 250's owned after
years of restoration time by top shelf shops seam to do well
when and if they trade (often NOT published).

Robs page one assessment is soberingly bang on. Even if our cars, “got hot” and appreciated 30-60K or above, who would sell them? I wouldn’t.

Every time I see a “Zero mile” Viper, SRT, LT1 whatever... ,“special edition” production car that’s like 20-30 years old Forsale I think, “what a waste”.
Me and my sons put like 40K miles on my Redeye this season and it has its 3rd set of rear tires on it.

A few of mine have appreciated to more than two times what I paid, namely my FGT and my Porsche 997 TT. Why would I sell those cars? I’d just have to go find the spec again and mod them the way I want them again.

One of the Worse things in the world is to be in a position where you are constantly assessing your net worth. How much is my house worth now? How much is my car(s) worth now, how much are my boat(s), motorcycles, tractors, UTVs, boots etc... worth now....

Make your money in the game. Then blow it on Cool cars, women, wine and song.... and be a happy man. When the time comes, If the check clears for your casket, you’ve won.

    Hi all,

few days ago I visited once again Silvauto, one of the most prestigious classic car dealers in Italy. Close to the central window there were 4 dream Ferraris: Dino 246, 512M, 250 GT Lusso, 550 Maranello.
Few months ago in that same spot there were 2 F40s and a Daytona.
I looked at them for a long time and suddently I realised how possibly in the long term the dominating factor driving the classic car appreciation may be be just their style.
I can be wrong, but I imagined that if in the year… 2060 I will have a 150 sqm living room (very unlikely, btw) with some white carpeting and only EVs allowed outside, I immediately saw a Testarossa or a 512 TR in a corner under some spot lights.
    Not a 550.
Maybe a F40 or a Daytona or a Dino, but for my tastes not a 550. And yet definitely a Testarossa or a 512TR today are going to be my choice regardless rarity or price because possibly the most iconic, recognizable, instant classic car, the “everybody cheers up because of knowing what it is” like pop art, also connecting to the sweet memory of the irrepetible ‘80s.
I mean: put a 200 k$ Andy Warhol print next to a Testarossa: sorry but Andy disappears.
No other car looks more as a sculpture than a Testarossa, and no other car looks less than a car than the Testarossa.
Some may say the Countach, but the Countach looks like a starship or a UFO too.
The Testarossa instead looks just and only like a… Testarossa, in my opinion.

Bloody me… now I need one!
    Ahahah

Let’s see… At worst I will put under those spotlights my 328.

    Bye bye,
    Nic

I'm a car enthusiast, so for me it seems logical to buy, drive and take good care of the cars that I like and can afford.

The folks who take the wheel after the end of my stint, can worry about the resale value if they want to.

If I was a money enthusiast, I'd probably look into stock, precious metals or crypto. I may be heavily biased, but to me it seems that car enthusiasts are generally happier than money enthusiasts.
