I don't understand the rumors of the SP4 being an F40 Icona, as this one is from the late 80s (1987), and the SP4 will refer to the 70s, if it follows the sequence of decades.

I think it could be V8 and pay homage to the 308 (and, consequently, all the Ferraris that originated from the 308, including the mythical GTO and F40).

I estimate that the SP3 has produced around 200 units, still far from the 599 units announced (which I imagine will be even more), so it will probably be produced until at least 2026.

Perhaps it is the case that SP4 will be presented during the production of SP3? One V8, the other V12, different assembly lines.

@ab08, how are you coming up with 200 SP3s to date? Just curious. I would have guessed more, but it would be just a guess, no facts to back it up.

Just an estimate based on the production rate. I think between 180 and 250. More than 250 already produced I think is really unlikely, which would still be quite far from the 599 announced.
Maybe someone can give more exact information about this here.
But my reasoning is that SP3 production still has a long way to go.

Europe total 62 in 2023. Europe 2024 thru April was 42 vs 20 in 2023 thru April. Pace seems to have picked up this year. Probably in the mid two hundreds in total.

More than 400 SP3s made so far. I would guess (and it is only a guess) that they would be aiming to complete production this year since the LaF successor is due to be unveiled quite soon and I imagine they would then move over to making that.

My guess is a BBLM, the next LeMans contender after the P4 and 512S/M.

The BB (Black) was a beautiful car but the LM version (Red) not so much

The post says they believe it’s the SF90 facelift.

That's from the SP3. Derek misunderstood Tony's story. He made a story recording the boxes for his SP3 and F250 invites with the caption "Who doesn't love Ferrari gifts", probably thinking he had just received the SP3 one meaning it would be for SP4

Some say that the F80 is - in part - a kind of homage to the F40.

I think the Icona SP4 could be a tribute to the 308 lineage, especially since the SP4 was supposed to be from the 70s.

Remember that the 308 was a huge success, and gave rise to the 328, 288 GTO and even the F40 itself, maintaining influence even in the designs of the 348 and F355.

Therefore, it could be a beautiful pure V8 Icona, in larger production numbers than a SP3, but still exclusive. Maybe around 2,000 cars.

I think that will be the role of the SF90 replacement (F173M) to be a tribute to the 308 as probably the last production Ferrari with a V8 (not that they haven't done that with the F8). You can see some styling cues from the camouflaged prototype.
308 wasn't an "Icon" to be an Icona model.
All in all, don't analyse the Ferrari using reason and rationale, they only see the money nowadays. So anything is possible.

I agree that this management today only seeks maximum profits, digitalization and disruption.

And yes, this tribute to the design of the 308 and subsequent models that followed this language could be in the "SF90 M".

But when I say that they can pay homage to the 308, I am actually referring to this Ferrari language that began with the 308, which IMO was very iconic.

I feel like the design team's strategy of making every new car a tribute to a car of the past is a cop-out. The Roma, SP1/2, and Daytona did a good job at first, but the 12C and F80 look almost like Frankenstein cars with no originality in design.

In a way, it glorifies the past and subtly suggests nothing iconic, original, or exciting can be made in today’s world.

Your post doesn't make any sense to me.

You say it's a cop out to make every new car a tribute car and then name the cars that are most tribute like as good design and that you like them...

Then you take the 12c which looks like nothing in the road .. and the f80 which looks like nothing else and say it's bad. Sure those two cars might be ugly to you... But they are unique in design. Nothing in the road looks like them. Sure they have anod to a Daytona here or a nod to the f40 there but... They are not tributes and look like nothing else produced by any other manufacturer.

Again .. they may not be everyone's cup of tea and for sure the design is controversial but to say that there is no originality in the design is in my opinion... In accurate

SP1/2 was front engine V-12 Inspired by 1950's Testarossa/ Monza

SP3 was mid-rear V12 Inspired by P3 / The 250 PS concept car by Pininfarina.

    SP4 Front engine V-12? Inspired by 250 GTO/275 GTB?
