I saw a 312PB in the garage behind Chinetti's KIng Street home. It wore #0900 and had Mariane Chinetti's name where the driver's name are usually placed. Sr. told me it was a gift from Enzo Ferrari and was in fact built from spares.
Some theories that the prototipo built for 1974 was later rebuilt and given to Chinetti, and what you saw was that car
An Argentinean collection, Gregorio Companc Perez, that spent up large in 2008/ 09, buying the 250LM from RMs Maranello sale, this 330LM, Mecums Shelby Daytona Coupe, a original GT40 and more. One or other cars get shown in Argentina on occasion.
My grandmother told us our family and the Amons were related. Never confirmed but I will take it. I also know Bruce stepdaughter. New Zealand is a small place!
When I had lunch with the Bardinons at Mas du Clos May 1 1998 after shooting 312P 0870, he told me the anecdote of the Denny Hulme visit. Hulme arrived one day in the 1980's with a Japanese TV team managed by a very feisty lady. They wanted to do a video about 0808 but Pierre Bardinon told me they had not been notified properly about the visit...but he let them in anyway, got the car ready and they shot the video on the circuit with the Kiwi driving the car. The funny thing was that morning when I arrived they also claimed they did not remember even though I had made a proper appointment with confirmation! Still: unforgettable days for all concerned and wonderful hospitality!
