I'm in need of 2 yards of the correct headliner material for my 1987 328 GTB (red on black). Here's a picture of headliner. (Note that this section is in OK shape. There's more damage in the rear shelf area and around the third brake light pod.) Image Unavailable, Please Login This past summer I stopped by World Upholstery and they had two swatches (shown below sitting on one of my sun visors). They had promised to call me back with availability & pricing on the correct swatch (the lower one in this pic), but never got back to me. And they seem to have gone out of business since then. Image Unavailable, Please Login Searching around on-line, I see that MrFiat.com offers two different potentially matching headliner materials. One is "Beige Black" (part no FR-328-19) and one is "Grey White Black" (part no FR-328-020). I'd like to get a very close match because I'd like to leave the visors alone and only recover the actual headliner and the rear shelf sections. Two questions: - Does anyone have experience with these headliner fabrics from MrFiat.com? How good a match is it? - Does anyone know for sure which of these two fabrics ("Beige Black" or "Grey White Black") is the correct one for my interior? Thanks.
Good day Jens, I had ordered items (door handles) from Mr. Fiat in the the past and overall it was a bad experience. However, it did get sorted out, thanks to Ebay stepping in. if I was to order from them again, I would ensure to use a mechanism that has buyer protections in place. With that said, you can try Henk @ HVL, as they have all sorts of Ferrari fabics, leathers, etc ... and even remanufacture them if needed. They are located in the Netherlands and so cost+shipping may be a factor: https://www.hvlclassleathers.com/ Interestingly, I believe that Mr. Fiat simply resells the Ferrari fabric materials, as their offering of "mouse hair" as used in the older F-cars looked to be what HVL sells... but at a hefty markup. Cheers, Sam
Hello Jens, there is many thread about those materials. I bought this fabric years ago from the original Italian suppliers Maieli. See website below : https://interniautomaieli.com/en/materials.html
I literally just ordered this from Mr Fiat. I only needed a small amount for the B-pillars. FYI.... Mr Fiats is slightly lighter than the OEM '84 fabric. It is NOT a perfect match but it is very close. I'm doing the Passenger side b-pillar so it matches the originally damaged driver's side. It was IMO stupid expensive for how little I needed but it is basically the same material as the OEM so it is what it is.
I wouldn’t do business with Mr.Fiat again if my life depended on it. Screwed me out of $300 for Poorly designed distributor caps For my Euro QV, and refused to take them back.. as an added bonus, it also damaged both rotors, which I got to replace.
Thanks for all the info. I ended up ordering from https://www.hvlclassleathers.com. And glad especially to get the feedback on Mr Fiat. It's a bummer that they're difficult to deal with, they seem to have a whole bunch of other items I need.
I just ordered a new Convertible top for my Fiat Dino Spider restoration project from them. I got the best price and service so far. I shopped all over. Haven't seen the top yet. Should be shipped this week.
Its been hit and miss for me. Some things good, some things not so good. They are more expensive than what you can find if you shop around. In general I've done everything I can to avoid them unless its the last resort. They did come through with an ignition switch that was unavailable through every other source I asked. But it costed me an arm and a leg. Still, I eventually got the part I needed. I would not say "don't use them" but I would say shop around first.
Update: I got swatches from Mr. Fiat, and ended up ordering from HVL. I ordered from HVL based on the same picture I posted way up above, asking to purchase cloth that matched the visor and the loser swatch. Here's a pic showing my original visor, the two swatches from Mr. Fiat and the bolt of cloth from HVL. Not sure I can check this item of the to-do list just yet. Sigh. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm an idiot. I was looking at the backside of the material, and I guess by coincidence I had unrolled the material so the front wasn't visible. Good news is (i) the material is so well made that the front and backsides are both presentable, and (ii) I can check this one off the list. Image Unavailable, Please Login
