Not for tonight, but frozen for an upcoming party. I used Hofmann’s Snappy Grillers, their German franks, some with Gulden’s spicy brown, some with Maille coarse mustard, and three different toppings-poppy, everything bagel, and middle eastern za’atar seasoning. I did have to taste test a couple.

Looks tasty… except the beets (?). My wife made some a couple night ago and still don’t like them. I’ll eat about any other vegetable.

 

Beets… Couple strips on the BGE tonight. My wife had some leftover beets. None for me. I was doing dishes, washing knives and moved a plates and all this red water… thought I cut myself somehow. Damn beet juice!

 

That's why I try to cook only golden beets. Less mess. Or less visible at any rate...T

 

First morning under 40 degrees, so time for a batch of pasta ***ioli. For service I’ll boil up ditalini, add pasta water as needed to the soup, and finish with a drizzle of peppery Tuscan olive oil, a shower of grated Parmigiano Reggiano, and a preserved pepper. A green salad, crusty bread, and a bottle of red will complete the meal.

Cheaters braciole. Sliced up a chuck roast and simmered in tomato sauce and typical Italian seasonings.

Fried catfish. Obviously not mine! Little joint up in Oklahoma. Looks over the Red River and it's finally cool enough to sit outside.

Obliged sister who wanted Italian post Turkey Day. Threw down some pies and added ravioli with mushroom cream sauce. I brought the chanterelles my friend foraged in the wild. No hallucinations so all good PS, don’t use Trader Joe’s pepperoni; sucks.
