So, I have logged 116 miles in my first 3 weeks of TR ownership, and I am still getting used to driving it. The dog leg shift from 1st to 2nd leaves me feeling like I have never driven a stick!

Air Cooled Porsches like to run around at around 3000 rpm. Below that you feel like you are lugging around and fouling plugs and all of that. On a 930, it is pretty common to downshift into 1st with a "double clutch" to make a slow, square, corner. The TR seems to like 3000 rpm as well and seems to be ok with going around the corner in 2nd given its mountain of low-end torque.

Knowing that I am about to get barraged by opening a Pandora's Box, what is the consensus on driving a TR?

    Thanks,

    Mark

I was pleasantly surprised that the stereo works including the CD Player. Two things I forgot to test when I test drove it was the horn and the stereo. I also prefer "Enzo's Song" although ZZ Top Sharp Dressed Man was pretty nostalgic running down the street!

The engine is really flexible. There is no good reason to keep RPM high, as you noticed it has good torque. I was a mechanic in a dealer when new and was often tasked with giving prospective buyers a ride and explaining the car. There was a specific route I took that had a steep hill in a residential area. at a specific spot at the bottom of the hill Id have speed at 25mph put it in 5th gear, give it full throttle and show them how it would very easily and smoothly accelerate all the way up. But it doesn't mind high rpm either, it just wears things out quicker.
On the 1-2 shift, it will become second nature.

Phil Collins "In The Air Tonight" is a good choice too.

I think that would freak me out, but I have no doubt that you can do it. I have been driving the 930 4 speed for so long I don't know what to do with that extra gear. Kind of funny. A 6 speed would leave me lost.

I think I would change out the carrier before I did too much of that kind of driving. No doubt the car has plenty of torque. My positive impression of the Testarossa keeps growing. With a great engine and the fact that the car won't bake you while you drive it, with a very exotic look, the car is a real winner.

I always thought "when I get a Testarossa the first song I play will be Miami Vice theme." It was. And I haven't played any music since, love listening to the engine!
