Yes good life. Checo cannot see this yet. His stubborn nature and denial are obvious.

I can understand why Perez waits to be pushed, rather than leave of his own accord.
Red Bull breaking his contract would bring more compensation than if he goes voluntarily.
    It's a no brainer, IMO.

Still stubborn lol. So lacks the class to move on.

“If not, like I said, I’ve got a contract for next year.”

Asked outright if he has any intention of resigning, he said, “No.”

…which is the correct answer. I think RB should have dumped him a while ago, but no way I would expect Perez to resign. It’s an incredibly insulting question for someone to have asked.

A contract is a contract. A buyout is a buyout. I wouldn't expect any driver to answer in any other way.

Would you "move on" if there were several $Millions of compensation at stake ?

Perez is right to hold his ground, IMO.

Financially right, I agree. Though by him holding his ground based on legality/contract, he is showing very publicly this is his character and it could have consequences as a future driver. Would anyone want to work with him in the future? Even outside Formula 1.

contract is a contract. why should he fall on his own sword? RB can afford to buy him out even as a long term RB ambassador etc.

Perez, and his agent, must know there are very few opportunities for him to find another seat in a top team.
So, since it's the end of the road for him, why not "milk" Red Bull as much as possible ?
Also this affect Perez' sponsors, and they may have something to say about this severance.
Red Bull re-signing Perez early in the season when his form was already declining was a massive blunder.
Then, less than 6 months later they want to het rid of him ? That's poor management.

It still makes me laugh they signed him on a multi-year contract to get him to improve. It's like handing out a promotion to an employee in the same position who isn't meeting goals.

He cannot 'milk' them lol. There is a contract. If anything he is probably going to be getting less due to a lack of performance. One can speculate all day but only the parties involved know the truth. Just dont let Perez' father know. He needs to really stop attacking people over this. Very poor look. This is on Checo and he has not been doing well at all.

D-day for Perez but 2025 F1 announcement may have to wait
Crunch meeting on Monday to decide Perez's future in F1

Red Bull says it will agree with Sergio Perez “the right and appropriate way forward” during discussions set for today to decide his Formula 1 future.

But while a meeting that will involve the team’s shareholders is expected to define the line-up of both of Red Bull’s F1 squads for 2025, it is thought likely that an announcement about its final decision may not come for a few days.

And that could be because the squad wants to wait until after Tuesday’s Abu Dhabi test, which involves Yuki Tsunoda’s first run in a Red Bull car, before committing to the line-up of its squads.

Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko told Motorsport.com: “All the facts will be discussed, and I guess a decision will be made. When it will be announced? I don't think it will be Monday.

“And of course we will wait for the result [of the test] before we make an announcement of the decision.”

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner explained that it was important the outfit got the season finished before it could evaluate things properly with Perez to work out what was in both their own best interests.

“Obviously those discussions will happen between Checo and the team,” he said. “Now we have got the season out of the way, we'll sit down with him and reflect on the season - and obviously where it's gone wrong - and collectively work out what is the right and the appropriate way forward.

“He's done an awful lot for this team. So we'll sit down and reflect on this season and how we move forward.”

Perez’s lack of points-scoring performances this year, in a season when Max Verstappen captured the drivers’ championship, contributed to Red Bull finishing third in the constructors’ title chase.

Verstappen won the title with 437 points, while Perez only managed 152 and finished eighth in the standings. Red Bull's total in the constructors' championship was 589, with Ferrari taking 652 and McLaren 666.

The reality of the points deficit was something that Horner said was hard to accept, and left it under no illusions that it needed to lift its driver line-up if it was to have any hope of doing better in 2025.

“I think you can see the importance of having two drivers scoring on a regular basis in the constructors’ championship,” he said. “It is crucial.

“Ferrari will be strong with their line-up next year. McLaren have a strong line-up. Mercedes will have an inexperienced driver in one of their seats.

“So for our team, it's very important that both of our drivers are delivering, and there's not a significant gap.”

Asked if there was any scenario he could foresee where Perez would remain on board, Horner said: “He's still our driver. So it would be wrong for me to speculate on what next year may look like, until he and I have sat down and discussed this year, and we reflect on it as a team.”

    Debatable.

Pre RBR Perez was often seen as the king of the midpack.
After Mercedes Bottas found his match in...Zhou. Hardly the next Lewis, is Zhou.

Bottas has been closer to Lewis than Perez to Max, but that doesn't mean Perez is a terrible driver compared to Bottas. If anything, that says more about Max and Lewis...

Bottas is the only driver who did the 24 races this season without scoring any point.

Even his team mate Zhou Ghanyu did better.

That tells you all you need to know about Bottas' form now.

His 10 GP wins with Mercedes are in the distant past.

I don't think so. I'd say Bottas is still the faster driver, but I think overall they are both pretty lousy.

    Finishing positions:
    Last time Perez had a dominant car (first 5 races of 2024) - 2, 2, 5, 2, 3
    Last time Bottas had a dominant car (last 5 races of 2021) - 15, 3, Ret, 3, 6
    If you don't consider the 2021 Merc dominant at that time, the 2020 car sure was. Last 5 races of 2020 - 2, 14, 8, 8, 2

I think they have both been overrated since the beginning. They've both had good days here and there. As it stands I don't think there is much between them and I wouldn't want either driver.

There are $15m reasons why Perez hasn’t walked…. Can’t say I blame him - that’s a lot of cash to just walk away from. He’s going to do a Danni Ric and get every last penny he can for not doing anything…

You can't simply compare career stats. Bottas drove the best car on the grid for 5 years. The 2020 Mercedes W11 was one of the most dominant cars in history. The 2019 Merc was also incredibly dominant. The W11 was on average .550 ahead of the next best car. Bottas scored poles against Hamilton, Perez had to qualify against Max. That's a whole argument of who had the tougher teammate while in the best car.

Perez enjoyed the best car for half of 2022, all of 2023, and 5 races in 2024.

Lets continue this steak of surface level statistics. Fernando Alonso has 22 career poles in 404 entries. 5.45%. Alonso has a career points/GP started of 5.58. I guess Bottas is better than Alonso too.
