That’s so crazy. $20 parts from China fixed something that $1,800 (or more?) in duds couldn’t fix? That’s scary and frustrating. Makes me want to stock up on those $20 units!! Link or pm with the product info?

We were able to use the part since we transplanted the wiring , shielding, and connectors from defected one .. we also had to "pot" the sensor

So even though a 20 part .. it was the other pieces and labor that would made it possible

I am searching for a good replacement ( maybe a bosch or magneti) and hopefully we can build a few and share here

oh wow, that’s super-involved! Also super frustrating that all the first parts you sourced were bunk. Very disheartening for those of us who may be looking down the barrel of the same issue at some point down the road. Here’s hoping that you and others can come up with a solution for the rest of us before any more of us fall victim to faulty parts!

Jaymac, You are so right. The suppliers of parts, especially when the parts are super expensive and need to be shipped at sometimes crazy prices, should check with THEIR suppliers and make sure the
parts have been tested and found workable. As stated the potentiometer that flash32 located hard to
be correctly wired and shielded. This was done by Brady Orlando our Independent Ferrari repair person in Bluffton, SC. He won’t release your vehicle until everything works. Capnal63

I think it's unreasonable to expect a distributor or even a supplier to test these expensive parts that have unique connectors and sketchy documentation. Also, testing itself, if done improperly, could possibly destroy the part. The burden is on the recipient.

The distributors of car parts operate on razor thin margins already. Typically, the parts do work and it's rare when they don't. The OP had some bad luck and it's likely to not happen again. I suspect the distributor is just putting those bad parts back on the shelf, instead of returning them to the supplier. Or, the supplier is just sticking them back on the shelf. That would be kind of incompetent, so is highly likely.

I noticed when I was sourcing parts to repair my F1 system that the quality of some was quite poor. When I replaced the clutch solenoid, the picture that was posted showed a magnetti marelli label and different markings. When I got the new solenoid, not only was there no label, there were no markings of any kind. Working in the manufacturing world since I was 19, this is unheard of to me. With no markings or labels, there is no way to dictate which part was made when and therefore no level of quality control involved in manufacturing. I'm fairly certain that guy was buying them from alibaba at $7 each and selling them to Ferrari owners at $200 each. It worked, but still...

I recently got my actuator rebuild done. The pressure holds good. Not sure if this is related to this thread but I couldn't find anything closer to the issue I'm having. With the key in and on position I get two gear shifts and the pump activates. So 1st to 2nd and pump runs for 2 seconds. Im not sure how many shifts I get with the engine on since I haven't tried it yet. I replaced the pump two years ago and accumulator was replaced with the clutch solenoid. Fresh actuator rebuild. The lines aren't leaking. I noticed a small drip from the pump between the motor and the actual pump after a drive. Could this cause the pump to run too frequently?

    Thank you

It held the pressure for 32 minutes. Ran for 3 seconds.
