Not a 100% but I am pretty sure they were - I had no solvent that would remove the original paint so I sanded things flat before repainting. I am sure it'll last for a while though.

Another small touch-up project - airbox cover had suffered some fuel spillage a while ago:

Re the clutch cylinder repeatedly failing: Heat might be the issue looking at the melted boot. I designed a heat shield based on the workshop manual's drawings and some photos I took:
    Image Unavailable, Please Login
And fabricated it from an old sheet of alloy to test fit: Image Unavailable, Please Login
    It fitted alright

That's in the car at the moment. I then made a proper one with a head protection insert

Done, will be fitted the next time the car's up in the air:

Side observation - in Switzerland you can still get 100 Octane gas, which doesn't contain Ethanol apparently

So - speedo keeps dropping to zero intermittently above 40mph so I pulled it to check the move the pot and add a tiny drop of WD40. No change, so crawled under car and saw this on the sensor plug:
    Image Unavailable, Please Login
Off it came and I drilled a hole through the red side of the plug so solder in a new wire. On the green side I was able to reuse the cores so added a new wire:

    Prepped for refitting:

... and the problem is still present, with a very recent speedo sensor?
So I refitted my original repaired sensor (see above):
    Image Unavailable, Please Login
... and the speedo works normally! The new sensor already failed... not good.

RHD only issue with the driver's footwell carpet due to the stepped floor (gas pedal torsion bar) - the carpet wears off really quickly due to the clutch pedal heel. So I had the carpet shortened to before the step:

Engine started missing again, as soon as she warmed up. Fuel filter checks revealed nothing:

Caps and rotors are perfect, all HT leads have continuity to extenders
Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
But some, not all, extenders have burn marks:
Image Unavailable, Please Login including on the spark plug connector
    Image Unavailable, Please Login
They check out in terms of resistance though. I changed them:
    Image Unavailable, Please Login
No change... The sensors all test out OK in terms of their internal resistance, both at the diagnostics plug and all the way down to the ECUs' plugs. I also tested all the wires up to the coils without finding any discontinuity. The coils' internal resistances are as follows (for reference):

Coil 1-4 low voltage 0.6 Ohm
    high voltage 4.68 kOhm

Coil 5.8 low voltage 0.7 Ohm
    high voltage 4.72 kOhm

Nothing obviously wrong other than a failed ECU? Before considering that I pulled the 3 sensors and they were very contaminated with clutch dust:

Could this be the reason for their failure at higher temps?

Nothing visibly or measurably wrong with old vs new sensor. But they need modifications to the holes spacing as you can see in the below pic:

and refitted - all three plugs at the car's side are broken by age. I secured them with cable ties until I can source a new loom or make one with new plugs:

Re the burn marks on the extenders both sides: I also noticed that the HT lead caps on the cam covers would not all sit at the same height and some of them wanted to be lower down = they'd pop up a few mm after fitting. Possibly the reason for the bad connections between the connectors and the plugs?

Yes, they can pop off! A few years ago I decided to check and clean my spark plugs and when I put everything back together after about an hour of driving, three or four leads popped off and my car wouldn't run! When I had my major service done a year ago, they also found that I had a misfire and one extender that was burnt all the way through!
