I have 447 US 1989 328 GTS in my data, I don't know if someone know all color specs of those but this is certainly more then 10 in Nero and probably around 50 to 60 I guess. Once again if we count the two different "Nero"

The 7 or 9 estimate I was given relates only to the Nero/Nero (gloss black/black interior) combo. The more popular interiors with the Nero exterior were tan, crema and red. And of course there were the Nero Metallico (or Metallizatto) black exteriors with any of those interior combos. It's realistic to assume of the 50 to 60 or so black US market 1989 328 GTS's you referenced that only a small number were Nero/Nero. Thus without an accurate database to access, my estimate of 7 or 9 could actually be correct. But who really knows?

Wow! That is so cool! So question: if I wanted to do the same thing with my car and the next closest Ferrari dealer was 150 miles away, would that still qualify? I mean the halfway point would put me 75 miles away from both stores. And then if my third closest Ferrari dealer was 150 miles away from the second closest….still good?
This is so exciting…..I now want to plot a trip and see how far I can get without ever being more than 75 miles away from the nearest Ferrari dealer!
Also, would it count if I trailered my car to a distant Ferrari dealership and drove within a 75 mile radius of it? That really opens-up the possibilities!
Thanks for the idea, can’t wait for Spring!!!

Funny! Mine was a very unusual circumstance in that the vacation home on Cape Cod where the car was always kept (not far from the dealership which is no longer there) was surrounded by really terrific driving roads, both along the water one way and through the woods inland on the return. I had a scenic 50+ mile course I ran every summer weekend that had straightaways, both increasing and decreasing radius turns, lots of tight turns, etc., with ways to make each ride a little different, and all with very little traffic. They were also fun motorcycle runs to take with friends on our Harleys. When I took the car to Martha's Vineyard to exercise it on the island's cool driving roads I might have exceeded the 75 miles by a tad. Anyway, the only reason I'm selling the 328 is I sold the Cape Cod house and my other homes have zero fun driving routes.

The local roads sound fantastic, very similar to my situation. Good luck with your sale, I’m getting ready to part ways with my QV GTS as well.
Will you at least have something left in the stable that’s fun to get out and exercise?

Yes, it does look a bit ... rough... I see what you mean by it being more of a parts car.

I may be old school Dave, but I only consider manuals to really be "fun" cars, and the only true manual (as opposed to paddle shift) that will be left in the stable when the 328 sells will be my Aston Martin, although nowadays it primarily just goes from point A to point B like the others. Good luck with the QV sale.

We have a great recent reference thread for a long time FChat member, The Mayor, buying an excellent example 1986 328 - I bought a time machine | FerrariChat

The starting point was a car bought from a fellow FChat member, but needed timing belts service and a few other items. The thread details his experience, the highs of the classic 328, and the journey over a year to get what started as an "excellent example" to "everything now works as it should". Definitely worth a careful read to know what you're getting into with a zero documentation, unknown service history car, when that was an excellent example to start with.

Your potential car absolutely needs a timing belt service since it's been at least 7 years, probably more, and likely needs ALL fuel lines and ALL coolant lines replaced and full brake service if not rebuilds, AC won't be working, a couple of oil leaks and seals replaced, valve adjustment, new tires - you'll be looking at paying a good shop at least $20K to turn it from a "really clean car" to a fully serviced, fully functional, reliable, driveable classic.

Add to the list of items to be checked and possibly or likely replaced - battery, fuel injectors, spark plugs, plug wires maybe, CV boots, door and window seals, horn, headlights, suspension bushings...
