    Hello
Andrew from Maranello Classic Parts here. We are sorting out the VAT issue. It's zero rated for VAT as mentioned, and worked ok from our 'Admin' side of the system, but when it went live on the 'customer' side of the system the VAT appeared. The joys of IT...

Note that UK customers still pay VAT on the freight cost - just not on the book itself. Or if you are in the area you are welcome to come and collect over the counter!

Sorry if anyone has been inconvenienced by this, but it should be resolved within 24 hours and all OK from then on.

Only 500 copies produced and stock available OK at the moment, so no need to panic just yet - you should not miss out.

Will be a nice Christmas present for yourselves at least

Obviously I need to be back on FChat more often to keep up with things here!

What about people who paid the tax for received this book. Who manage the problem with DHL Express?

I paid GBP 438.28 for my order from France, GBP 43.28 is for shipping (quoted as "delivery") so, correctly, no VAT. On top of that I will have to pay custom duties as usual when ordering from the UK now (same applies with Palawan, Horton's typically takes the cost though).

I would like to kindly remind anyone that this is a Ferrari book collectors thread and not the DHL/UPS support channel or a 'to hell with customs and taxes' community.

It’s a “book collectors thread” according to the title, not limited to Ferrari books or excluding the discussion of topics associated with books and book buying. I think the exchange of information is worthwhile. After all, those issues are important parts of book buying and “collecting” these days, don’t you think?

I think your opinion is wrong and unfair to this community as well.

You should see things diferently. For example, as a favour to this community.
The author of the book, the logistics but also ourselves need this information.

DHL, I got an expected delivery date but so far no information about custom - normally DHL collects the duties (if any) before delivery.

It's more complicated than a simple VAT.

All items are subject to a bill of materials, and then they are divided into categories.
Books must be subject to a DUA of 4% import tax, not 20%.

In this case, MCP did not provide the correct code for this nomenclature.
At the end, we must pay 20% on the purchase price,
(import of any shipments valued over € 150).

Just to add my 2 cents worth I think there is room on this thread for non Ferrari related motoring books- but keep it predominantly Ferrari, otherwise start a separate thread with the book title and let it run from there.

As far as delivery/ courier/ tax information goes I'm all for it but just remember G-d helps those who help themselves ;)
Around the time of the Lamborghini Miura Book release a few years ago there was a lot of chat about additional taxes from DHL that I found useful that I didn't know was coming.

As long as the main purpose of this forum is to announce, discuss, review and collect Ferrari books I'm happy.

I don’t believe the “main purpose” has ever been anything but that, but certainly not to the exclusion of any other book discussion or information. It’s far preferable to having a lot of thread proliferation about individual books or subjects except in some special cases like the Miura book.

I “watch” this thread to be sure I get information of all kinds about book of all kinds whenever it’s posted, but yes, predominately about Ferraris. Frankly, I’d welcome more news and comments about books about other marques and racing in general.

    Hello all
Just to let you know and confirm that the processing confusion on our website for the Ferrari Bloodlines book should be resolved now for overseas customers. I will check the customs tariff code loaded against it as well, just to make sure. Customs duties in individual countries are beyond our control however!

As well as being here for nine years so far, in both the Sales and Technical/Purchasing area, I previously worked for 10+ years at The Pitstop Bookshop in Australia, so I have an interest in books as well as Ferraris! I try to keep up with what is on the market, but I have too many good motoring books still that I have not read yet myself!

Merry Christmas to all and enjoy your motoring as well as your reading!

    Andrew

    2 weeks After.

What solution did you provide to the customers who ordered and the others who received the book before your changes in your system?

My many Emails with DHL given nothing.

Indeed, I've been charged with the regular VAT (20%) rather than the specific book VAT - that's clearly a mistake from MCP, but I'm happy to contribute (in a very modest amount) lowering my country's public deficit :p

    Greetings from Australia.

Wow what a small world. I bought motoring books for many years from Pitstop when they were in WA and then later when they moved to NSW from a helpful lady called Nicole Harvey.

Was very sad to hear of its closing (I think it was late last year or earlier this one).

No apology necessary. It’s good to have a broad discussion. If nothing else it stimulated others to give their opinions. Nobody’s forced to read or post here.
