My 2008 430 recently had an immobilizer issue. I tried using the Emergency Starting section on page 23 - 24 of the Owner's Manual. I found it to be confusing and it did not work. Am I missing something? BTW, I posted this in the 430 section and got no response.

How do we know if you are missing something if we don't know what you are doing?

I'm assuming the normal method doesn't work.

Are you getting cranking, but no start? Do you have an F1 or gated car?

The start procedure is worky. It does not hurt anything to use is regularly. I try to use it on my birthday and Xmas so twice a year so I remember the code and how to use it.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the immobilizer. It can definitely be tricky! You might want to double-check the key fob battery, as that can sometimes cause issues with starting. If the emergency start procedure didn’t work, it could be worth trying to reset the system by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. If that doesn’t help, I’d recommend contacting a Mercedes specialist—sometimes the system needs to be reset by a professional.

I resolved the immobilizer issue some time ago. I was just curious if any one had ever used the Emergency Starting procedure described above. I do have the Code from the Keycard and I guess I will have to do what fatbillybob does and just keep practicing till I get it right. BTW, the code is not the same as the radio code.

    Hello,

I had an immobilizer issue with my 2006 F430 a few years ago.
I first replaced the key batteries, but no luck.
I tried the emergency starting procedure dozens of times and it never worked.
I eventually had it towed to my independent shop but they were unable to resolve the problem.
It had to go to Ferrari as this is a dealer serviceable issue 'only'.
So, my advice is don't waste your time and money on other options, take it to Ferrari.
I live in Canada and my driving window is narrow due to the weather,
I lost an entire driving season because of this.
I wish I had better news for you.

    Regards,

    Les
