Sorry, day of questions, multi tasking. Decided to rebuild rear suspension. Question is I don't know how much spring pressure on shock. Car on stands wheels removed. Do I take the shock out first to remove suspension or attempt complete unit. If shock which end remove bolt out of. I need a sequence suggestion, don't want to bugger things or myself. All bolts and nuts broken free. Thanks

Remove brake caliper, hang it out of the way
    Remove brake rotor
Remove shock-spring as a unit. Later, disassemble using proper strut compressor (take it to someone who has one)
    Remove upper control arm
    Remove lower control arm
The knuckle is now attached only to the CV axle, leave it.
Take note of how many shims and where they all go. Put them back in the exact location.

Agree with Mike... you can use a jackstand to support the weight of the knuckle or tie it like he did... I'd use a stand just so the wires wouldn't be in the way... and remove the upper arm and shock... wouldn't take the lower off or the caliper.
