That might be in the UK so (every year), in Switzerland it is six to seven years, for example. Other countries, other laws. Even if you'd have to do MOT every year, an F80 owner could easily afford removing things and then post-MOT putting back all necessary items.

Thug life? I am quite sure that you are aware that in Switzerland the Police can stop you and perform an impromptu sound check...

An impromptu sound check has absolutely zero to do with MOT. At least in Switzerland.
There is zero legal ground. As experienced by myself and my F12 TDF on 13 March 2022 at 2.45 pm at Talstrasse in downtown Zurich, Switzerland.
Photos available. Name of police officer available as well.
And none of my cars will ever be modified or customised in any way.

All the Ferraris I've owned were equipped with remote opening exhaust valves and the difference in decibels is very significant with the valves open. However, with the valves closed, they have always passed annual inspection without any problem in terms of emissions and decibels in accordance with EU standards .
Companies specialized in aftermarket exhausts know the legislations in detail as well as all the tricks that allow to pass the MOT check.

Unlawful? Never while the valves remain closed and only if they are opened on public roads.

Posted because jm2 and I were exchanging thoughts on "design," and jm2 worked in GM Design for 40 yrs on Pontiacs.

Personally I believe the Trans Am design is nicer than F80, and certainly sounds more beautiful. The F80 has no sound.

Time to move on. I've answered your question. And you've displayed how vulgar you are.

Listen, if the authorities were already taking care that the law is respected in the street and that we live in safety, then and only then will we be able to deal with the illegal noise of cars !

I don't know what you are arguing about, honestly.

Of course you can change the exhaust and of course the car has to leave the factory with a compliant exhaust. What's the point?

Ironically you chose to attach a picture of a car that is, in essence, an Italian design—the FIAT 124–and which was a highly regarded car for its time, winning the European Car of the Year title at its introduction. Not to mention that it was a very practical and handsome design—even the Lada version—that inspired a whole generation of cars. Kind of betrays a lack of appreciation for what constitutes good design I would say.

    Nice pics, thanks! ;)

Looks amazing here: nice details, very original with massive presence—imagine this in daily traffic—and even if ostensibly ‘flat’, it has nicely executed surfacing with very nice reflections:

John Elkann like Luca Montezemolo is the executive chairman of Ferrari. Montezemolo once said "LaFerrari is the finest expression of our company's unparalleled engineering and design know-how, including that acquired in formula 1". Elkann could have said the same about the F80 but in a recent speech just emphasized that the F80, Ferrari’s new supercar, represents the culmination of an ambitious launch plan, which has garnered enthusiastic appreciation from customers and further enriched our offering, consolidating our positioning in the high-end car segment. Two men with the same job but with completely different styles.

Elkann also dedicated part of his speech to Ferrari’s electrification process, highlighting how, thanks to the great commitment and dedication of our team, the e-building was built in Maranello in just two years, a cutting-edge facility that represents a milestone for our company. “Inside, we will develop not only the next generation of Ferrari, but also the strategic electrical components that will help make our range even more exclusive and unique,” Elkann emphasized, stressing the importance of this new phase for the brand’s future.
“The electric Ferrari,” he continued, “will be a new, exciting chapter in our long and prestigious history. It will join the production and development of our internal combustion and hybrid models, each of which will continue to offer those extraordinary driving emotions that only a Ferrari can guarantee.”

When the chairman of Ferrari declares that the electric Ferrari will be a new, exciting chapter…..sounds like Elon Musk speaking.

Elkann should stick to fixing Stellantis, the company showcasing his real ability - or lack thereof - to steer a ship that doesn't live off its brand.

Elkann will run Ferrari into the ground, same as he's already done at Stellantis. He's clueless.

Nepotism runs completely counter to meritocracy.

And when that happens, he will already have his figurehead: Vigna.
Just like what happened at Stellantis, where CT was considered solely responsible for the disaster.
However, it is possible to see many similarities in the management of Stellantis and Ferrari, which shows that Elkann is the one dictating the disastrous directions.

In fact, Stellantis, at the beginning of CT management, generated great sales numbers and dividends, generating euphoria among shareholders, who saw Elkann and CT as heroes.
But all this management was nothing more than a bubble, which burst, and the collapse came at high speed.

Exactly. And in fact, certain US dealers are already warning Ferrari of such. Their warnings are being ignored.

Arrogance + incompetence = predictable failure.

When you are buying cars at this price you don't want a single thing touched - especially the exhaust which would need removal of the GPF and replacement of CATs to have a chance at getting any minor sound back. In doing so, you risk the tune especially with hot turbos. If you don't think it affects value then lets count how many for sale ads you see that disclose all those mods when they are switched back and put up for sale.

MOT stands for the Ministry of Transport test, a compulsory annual inspection in the UK for vehicles over three years old to ensure roadworthiness and safety compliance.

It is required by both rich and poor owners.

Looking at the profiles of the Enzo, Fxx and F80, the following can be seen. The Fxx is basically an Enzo equipped with the rear spoiler that Luca Di Montezemolo said to Sergio Pininfarina he could do better without.
From this angle can be seen that the design of the F80's front fender has been inspired by that of the Enzo's. However, there is something about the F80's design I can't explain but that makes it look busier and less cohesive than the two other cars.

All civilized/developed states have such inspections, to make sure cars are roadworthy and proper safety compliance.
But not all parts of roadworthyness have the same importance. For example, making sure breaks or lights work properly is a must, but burnt fuel/gas emissions are not as important. I'm sure a rich supercar / hypercar owner can more than afford to bribe a MOT worker to turn a blind eye on bigger emissions. They won't turn a blind eye to other safety features cause their conscience won't allow them, they might be indirectly responsible for an accident if they ok a faulty car, but gas emissions, nobody gives a **** about those.;):D

also what ever became of the rumored F40 Icona? Or did that design get subsumed into the F80.
