Jeff: A "nervous" LM is a chassis setup problem. Our car is quite stable and pretty well balanced at the limit. Our car scales 43/57 with a driver and 20 gal. fuel. However, you have more tire and wheel on the rear to help compensate for the rearward weight bias.

Chassis set-up, is what makes the difference between say Senna, Schumacher, Lauda, and anyone else, at the time when F1 was tops.
Chassis set up makes a car a pig or an angel. Great set ups, make a racing driver comfortable in the office...
That goes for road cars also, just add 1mm of toe-out, dreamy... Tyre wear? Who cares about
stinking tyre wear. All cars nowadays come with +camber, ever try 1 deg. negative?
No grannies spinning out on the off-ramp? Nope, DOT and the manufacturers would have all the lawyers going happy.

Drivers that can spell out to mechanics what they want, are a gift from above, and hang out with the mechs. until after hours.
Or, "is my cah ready old chaps"?
What does Lance ask for, I really wonder. Give me an Alonso "to go"? Hold the bacon. "I'll have what he's having, eh"

    Regards, Alberto

    Answer right below that addendum:
"Please note this lot has entered the EU on a temporary import bond, which must be cancelled either by exporting the lot outside of the EU on an approved Bill of Lading with supporting customs documentation or by paying the applicable VAT and import duties to have the lot remain in the EU."
Car came from USA to EU on a temporary bond.

I wonder if a US buyer has to pay import taxes to bring it back...

No, as Marcel explained it is here in Europe temporarily like an American tourist; under customs bond or similar. It has not been formally imported into France or Italy...just like an American tourist here for a couple of weeks in the summer has not applied to immigrate here. Just visit.

If an American buys it the car will be flown back west across the pond -transiting through Modena precisely for these administrative procedures- and European customs at the departing airport will stamp its documents: car departed back to country of origin or something like that.

5893 was at the factory in Maranello very recently and everything was checked by Classiche, prior to the upcoming Paris auction.
It cannot be red book certified because it was born with a Scaglietti shortnose and just prior to the 24 h of Le Mans 1965 was renosed with the Drogo longnose.
So, according to the rules, it would have to be renosed back to shortnose in order to get a red book. But that would be a sacrilege, of course.

    No book.
I hope that whoever ends up with it will never ever send it back to Maranello.

Big day. What are your guesses for hammer price? I'd estimate $40M or so, but north of $50M wouldn't surprise me.

I say nowhere near those numbers. When it was announced last year, I predicted 35. Fellow Fchatters said 30 and I realized I was being too optimistic. Now after the sale of the MB, I’m wondering if the LM even makes 30. it certainly will be exciting to see where things end up.

Strong result, considering. 10 years ago I think this might have made even more money.

Has the 512M been auctioned yet? Top of the estimate is less than half the value of the 250. Bargain.
