It came in a orginal ferrari box
Sounds like it is probably the exact same part I got from Alibaba then. It’s an intricate PCB and I can’t imagine there’s a market case for more than one manufacturer to be making these things. If I were you, I would probably just order one from the Alibaba source and try again. If you have the steering wheel LEDs shift light, then be sure to let them know so they can program it to work correctly.
I did my NVO board (my supercar expert) and RRRBB lights (macarbon) this weekend. NVO was plug and play, though I did give MSE advance notice I had rpm LEDs. I was anxious about the airbag and wheel removal, but it was dead simple. Detached the battery quick release and just ended up removing the airbag and leaving the wheel attached. Pulled the control unit and took it inside to do the swap. There was an extra cable to remove that wasn’t in the Tech Manual, but easy enough to figure out. Once inside it was just a matter of removing the back-of-wheel rocker switch cable from the channels on the board cover, removing 2 screws on the cover and 2-3 on the board itself. New one on and reverse the steps. LED swap took a touch longer as I was nervous about marring the wheel. I could barely fit the smallest shims in around the lens, and when I did, they didn’t seem to snag on any tabs. Eventually I laid painters tape all around and using the smallest jewelers flathead I was able to pry from the right end of the lens and it popped right out. 2 screws and back in, no issues. Both worked great on first try. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sounds like someone sold you a faulty one. The original one in my Spider would act up when it was about 50 degrees F or cooler. Wait a few minutes and the "Electrical System Failure Go to Dealer" flashing warning and Manettino failure stuff would go away and everything worked perfectly.
Is there anyway to "verify" the NVO board is the culprit when the turn signals don't work? Will a scan tool verify the problem? If so, which tool(s)? My green turn signals indicators do not light up on the dash, nor do the lights flash on the exterior of my 458 when I push the turn signal buttons on my steering wheel. But, both the green turn signal indicators on the dash and the exterior lights flash when the hazard button is pressed. Hazard lights work without the key in the ignition. I suspect the turn signals only work with the key in the II position or ON. Is that correct?
Correct turn signals would only work with the ignition on. Hazards work all the time. My car was doing exactly the same thing plus the start button was intermittent and it was the NVO board. I replaced it and the problems were solved.
I'm only having start button issues and nothing else, literally everything else on the wheel works fine other than the engine start
Unfortunately it’s all on the same board so whether one switch or three switches are failing you can only replace the entire PCB.
Special thanks again to @Boiler Inspector. Purchased the nvo board from Aliexpress and installed it this weekend. I now have my turn signals back and the LEDs came on when I started the car, so suspect those will work when I take it out for a spin as well. Also thanks to @mikey64 for his additional tips. One thing that happened to me that another member mentioned on a different thread is when you pull the aluminum button panel off the wheel, the foam rips at the three tabs where it connects to the wheel. I used some 3M 74 fast foam spray adhesive I had laying around to reattach the the panel to the foam. Good as new! When removing the nvo board from the aluminum panel, make sure u take out all 3 phillips screws. 2 larger ones on the two outsides and one smaller one towards the right side. I have a bunch of pics I can send to others if they would be helpful. For some reason when I try to upload pics here, I always get an error message??
+1 great instructions - my LED's were not working. Changed this part & everything worked perfectly. Thank you!!!!
Similar thing happened to me yesterday. I was wondering is that the problem? (uploaded video) I got the "Electrical System Failure Go to Dealer" when turning the key (without engine start), it would make the beep beep beep sound. Then, my start button still work so I am able to fire up the engine. However neither turn signals nor manettino would work. All the lights on my steering wheel would continue flashing as shown in the video. Do I need to replace the NVO board or the battery? (but my battery was replaced less than a year and it was always on battery tender) Any advice please. Thanks!
Nothingbutair, While I have completed the NVO board replacement on my 458 with success, I did not have the same symptoms as you do as the only thing that didn't work for me was my turn signals. With all those flashing lights, I would recommend you make sure the battery is fully charged. Then disconnect it for 30 mins by following the disconnect instructions in the manual. Then reconnect it and do thru the procedures to reset the car. Once done, if you still have the same symptoms, then it very well could be the NVO board. Trouble is there is no way to tell for sure even via diagnostics that I am aware of. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Thanks cudaman, will look into the battery over the weekend first. Yes my OBD did not pickup any codes. Will post an update later.
That is correct; even on a Leonardo there will be nothing indicating a problem with the NVO board. What was funny about mine was it only happened in colder weather (50s and below). The only way I pinpointed it was the issue was another FChat member who lived in Colorado had the same symptoms I did. The procedure to remove and replace the NVO is fairly straight forward and easy. Just take your time and be careful with the wires.
Finally got the NVO board from Ali Express, the swap is pretty straight forward thanks to the guides here Just a question, does your button lights stays on permanently? Mine stayed on for a couple of days now (see pic). Do you have the same issue or was it like that? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, even when the car is off. All doors locked. I even check after a couple of days but the start/stop button, signal, suspension switch are remaining illuminated still. Luckily the car is on battery tender the whole time.
The fact those lights are staying on makes me feel like perhaps a wire is grounded that shouldn't be; or something is not telling those lights to turn off, perhaps a coding issue? I don't know. Maybe reach out to the Aliexpress seller. I think MySupercarExperts who is on Facebook also sells NVO boards or repairs them.
Just an update, I have sent back the NVO board I bought from Aliexpress for fund along with the factory original (faulty) to the seller. He managed to fix that for me and posted it back. Now I have fitted it and everything sorted, as good as new!
