Hello, Hope all is well with everyone. Fairly new to the Ferrari world and Forums. I have a 2004 575M F1 recently purchased. With the Hi- Fi sound system. I recently noticed that sometimes the Becker radio comes on and off on its own once the car is started. Lets say parked in the garage, sometimes it will stay on and for example if i rev the engine just a little bit it will go off. Now, when driving it seems to do the same thing, as you drive and hit a bump or accelerate it will go off and come back a few seconds later. Sometimes it will not come back at all. Can anyone help and guide me in the right direction? Ive heard of Becker Auto Sound in New Jersey but before I send it to them i would like to be sure that it is in fact the Head unit and not a ground issue of some sort. Can someone tell confirm that Fuse F27 is a 5 Amp fuse? i just happened to take a look in passenger footwell in compartment C and it had a 30 amp fuse... thank you all for your help in advance.
So then this in the owners manual is wrong? This is what I saw yesterday in the owners manual… it states 5 AMP for fuseF27 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Could it be that cars with no separate amplifiers have smaller fuses? On the 360 for example, there was an option to add an amplifier and extra speakers.
I thought the same as well but in my papers it says I have the Hifi system meaning I have the amp? I’d have the check in the trunk if that is there behind the CD changer. If I do have the amp it would require the 30 AMP fuse correct?
Please check the face plate: press the upper right-hand button to release the face plate. Make sure it's not loose and seated properly.
its properly seated.... dealer we bought it from had told us this the second we call him after saying it wasn't working properly. he said the contacts could be dirty. cleaned them a few times its spotless... i believe its a power/ ground issue but dont know where to start...
Hi, I am not an 575 owner, but it sounds familiar to my issues with my radio on my 550. Radio going on and off. It was related to the fact that the fuse is shared with the AC compressor. In my case, the AC compressor was at fault and after fixing that, radio is fine. See link here.. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/ferrari-550-ac-compressor.701244/
thanks for the reply!! wow what a weird combination of fuses.... which fuse are we talking about here? i see many people have had this issue in the past but i dont see the connection to the AC compressor at all. from what i remember the issue still happens with either the AC on or off. how can i test this to be sure?
from what ive seen in the owners manual.. the AC compressor is fuse F38.... the fuses for the radio are F27 and F46... what am i missing here exactly? help
Obviously the 575 is wired differently to the 550. Unfortunately, without a wiring diagram, we can't identify grounds and other likely failure points. Do you have the tool to remove the head unit? Can you reach behind the dash and follow the wiring? Is there anything plugged into the cigarette light socket which might be dragging down the voltage going to the head unit? (see fuse 46) When you say it goes off, do you mean lights and sound?
i have removed the radio. checked the wires but didnt go that far in with my hand. where does that wiring go exactly? does it down the passenger footwell is that it? nothing is plugged into cigarette lighter. yes when it goes off, the unit goes off as well as the sound..... give it a minute or two and if you press power itll power on and maybe stay on for a few seconds then shut off again. SOMETIMES it stays on longer but end sup shutting off anyways. sometimes i feel like when the car was idling and if you were to rev the engine and have the rpms a little higher it would cause the radio to go off. not sure if its correlated in any way but not sure where to turn anymore.... not sure if a radio shop can find a solution but i havent tried yet....
Unfortunately, not many 575 owner's seem to be do-it-yourself guys, so knowledge is limited. Maybe you can find a basic manufacturer model number on the radio and Google for a wiring diagram or backplug pinout. This will tell you what the wires do and will help us find out where the wires might go. Power and earth wires will be some of the important ones. If power is present all the time on the power wires with the ignition key on, then maybe the problem is inside the head unit. Photos of the backplugs and the matching car plugs (with some of the wiring colours shown) may help with this issue.
I’m pretty handy but electrical stuff like this isn’t really my thing to be honest….. see attached a picture of the back of the radio unit. Hope it helps you help me!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks like the standard plugs for cars of this era. Here is a pinout for the A & B plugs on a Ferrari 360: Image Unavailable, Please Login Strangely, the document for your radio has the plugs swapped around (i.e. the plug with the offset keyway is the power plug on the 360). Anyway, the important wires are: Permanent battery voltage on pin 4 (red/white wire) Key power on pin 7 (orange/black wire) Earth on pin 8 (black wire) The lettering in my diagram shows the wire colours in Italian. Image Unavailable, Please Login Hopefully the 360 and 575 wire colours are similar, so you can identify the plugs and pins. Fuse 46 in box "E" on the 575M provides key power to the radio, mirrors and cigarette lighter. When the radio goes dead, try adjusting your mirrors to see if the controls work. If they don't work, there might be an issue with the fuse, fuseholder or wiring. Can you get enough access to the wiring going to the radio to shake it, to see if the wiring behind is intermittent? Unfortunately, if you don't own or know how to use a voltmeter, this is going to be difficult to diagnose.
wow awesome write up!!! i have actually pulled out the radio enough out of the slot to shake the wires quite a bit and move them around and the radio seemed to stay on the times i did this....I actually have a voltmeter.... would i just be putting the probes into pins 4 and 8 and see if i lose voltage to the radio with the car running?
Hi, I am traveling and can, for that reson, not gather hands-on info with regards to my fuse box. But did retrieve an older thread stating the same...regarding 550. Might not be the same for 575. See below... https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/air-conditioner-blows-fuses-on-a-550-maranello.437987/
thanks for the reply!! Although the same issue, i think the 550 and 575 have different fusebox setups. the ac and radio are not on the same fuse in the 575. i wish it would be that simple LOL. **** out of luck its so annoying...
anyone know why i cant start a conversation with another member? im trying to reach out to @tazandjan ... cant seem to send a private message...
You'll get volts on pin 4 with the key off, and on pin 8 with the key on, but since vibration may be causing the issue, you can run the car and repeat the tests. Put the red voltmeter probe on the pin (or socket?) and the black probe on a good chassis ground (or use pin 8 as your ground). I would first determine if the wire colours on these plugs are the same as in my previous message. Sorry, I meant to say fuseblock "D" (fuse 46) Image Unavailable, Please Login
