ah yeah that was a small concern of mine about how the trim wears from small dings and scratches. This makes me want to make sure i have the carbon trim even more. Plus carbon can be polished and treated while the silver trim cannot be. That being said i do vinyl wrap as a hobby and if i had to get one with silver trim i could always vinyl wrap to match the exterior color which i feel like could be a cool touch and also help protect the trim.

shields, steering wheel LED, buckets for sure.

Carbon bit inside is nice but not a deal breaker.

My 2 cents - I spent 2+ years searching weekly for red on black, coupe, LED, racing seats, as much carbon interior as possible. FAL and camera were nice to have but I was already honing in on a needle in a haystack. What you pay for in the car today at any price, (the more options, the more $), you will likely get back when you go to sell. There are also some things (camera) that you can add (yes I did this and it works great) that are less expesnive than say adding a LED wheel or FAL after the fact.

Pick a few items that means the most to you and go forward. . .

thanks. I think i've largely decided on my must haves being LED steering wheel, Carbon racing seats, red or black exterior. Unfortunetly while that combo exists, the majority of available cars i've seen online so far have been the interior i want, but the wrong color exterior. I think i MIGHT be willing to compromise on exterior color, but ideally i'd want red or black. Its ok though as i wont be ready to buy till the end of the year so even if what i want isnt showing up right now, it might when i'm ready.

When I did my search, originally I wanted red/tan for colors, front lift and carbon steering wheel. For parking, either sensors or camera. Sensors have the advantage of doing front as well as back. Photochromic mirrors with garage door opener I find nice/cleaner than clipping an opener to the Sun visor but you can get MyQ enabled openers now and do from your phone.

In the end I found a car that didn’t have front lift or the CF wheel but low miles and the right price which I prioritized over exact spec. The front lift can be mitigated with a sacrificial plate mounted on the underside of the front bumper. Good addition even with the lift as there will be times you won’t be able to engage it in time in the open road when hitting a bump. With the sacrificial plate I don’t miss the front lift as Iif it gets beat up I can just swap it out for a few hundred bucks and one less mechanical thing to worry about.

I swapped out my wheel for CF one (san LED’s so didn’t need to worry about programming). I got it for resale as folks seem to want it, personally don’t get the LED thing. Seems kind of tacky, but each to their own, many folks love them. If it’s important, get one when purchasing as it’s expensive to do afterwards via Ferrari or a pain to find someone whom can do the Proxi file programming.

My advice is be a little flexible, don’t pass on a good car/low miles/good history just because it’s missing one thing unless you know you’ll be kicking yourself/unhappy down the road. Only you can answer that.

Reviving this thread as i'm getting closer to being ready to purchase. Had a question about color that i wanted some opinions on.

Now i've decided that i want either red or black as my exterior color. However thats purely from just a "wow that looks good". However a weird thought popped into my head, that even though i actually love how the 458 looks in Black...would i regret not getting it in red?

Part of the reason i want a Ferrari is because i want it to be flashy. I want it so that if you looked at the car, you would immediately without question say Ferrari. And part of that i feel like is the Red exterior. it's just so iconic. Like Alpine White for BMW, Championship white for Civic Type R, Papaya Orange for McLaren, and GT Silver for Porsche. Dont get me wrong, i love how black looks for these cars. And i know i'd love it if i got the 458 in black. but theres this really weird part of me thats questioning that decision choice. I dont know.

You will get a mix of replies on this question. Some people think Ferraris should only be red, some people think Ferraris should never be red.

When I was shopping for my 458 I was going for nero. My wife saw one in Rossa Corsa and told me I could get any color I wanted, as long as it was Rosso Corsa. She was correct. I have random people come up and thank for me having that car in that color when I park.

Yeah that is absolutely gorgeous. Online theres a 458 in Rosso Mugello i think, and the darker red is just amazing on the design of the car. I think i wouldnt mind any shade of red, even the more orange tones like Rosso Scuderia. But to my point seeing that picture it just scream Ferrari to me. I feel like Nero is a great color, and makes the car look very very cool, but i dont know, it doesnt scream Ferrari to me.

Rosso Corsa aka "resale red". My take is that red commands a higher price than other colors, both on purchase and resale. I looked at both red and yellow only but utlimately decided to get RC. To your point red (and yellow) are flashy. But you know that already, getting into with any F-Car. Nero will definitely be a bit subdue in my opinion. If this is your first F-Car, I just think you need to go with iconic red.

You will get a lot of attention in a red Ferrari. It's usually fine, but occasionally gets too much. I was driving home from the store recently and had a BMW M4 driver at a four way red light back up from lane 1 to pull up next to me in lane 3, just to say "nice car."

When buying my 458 Spider I agreed with my wife that my first Ferrari needed to be red, but my second one would be nero. Then I saw the Portofino M in Rosso Portofino. Maybe my third will be nero. Three of my other cars are black and I love that color on a car, but red Ferraris just work for me.

Yeah Red Ferraris for me are just *chefs kiss*. I think you responded on my other post in the Portofino group, and even for the Portofino i just have to go red if i decide to go with that car.

Yeah thats what i'm thinking as well. And i dont mind paying the premium, i feel like i'll be happier. And yes this will be my first Ferrari, and i feel like if i dont get red for my first F-car, i'd regret it. No matter how good it does look in nero.

Yep, Portofino M in Rosso Portifno is amazing. My nero Gran Turismo and 2003 Z4 (I recently added a 2025 Z4 with 6MT). Image Unavailable, Please Login
