Hi guys, I searched the forum but I didn't find this error, does anyone know what it is? I've been seeing it for six months now but only the last time I drove the car I had problems with the F1 gearbox, in city traffic sometimes when downshifting from 2 to 1 the gearbox failed and went into N. Is it connected to this error? Image Unavailable, Please Login
I would do a quick check of all the timings on your F1 system Start with engine off key on how many minutes between cycles of the pump Also tell me how many seconds to pump runs exactly Tell me how many shifts you get between pump cycles with the engine off Then repeat this with the engine on You could use your launch to see when the pump goes on by looking at the pressure hydraulic pressure
Honestly, before writing this post and before going to the official Ferrari workshop, I had thought about doing the DEIS self-learning with my Launch diagnosis, I don't know if it can be useful. But I have the feeling that it is a calibration problem since the anomaly has occurred a few times when I was about to stop at a stop sign, instead of putting the car in 1 it went into N. Of course it is strange that no one on the forum or on the net in general has detected this code 1780
Sounds like that error is definitely related to the F1 gearbox. I’ve had similar issues, and it could be anything from low fluid to a sensor glitch. When the gearbox kicks into neutral, it’s usually a sign something’s off with the downshift mechanism. It’s weird it’s been happening for six months, though maybe getting it checked out would save you from bigger issues down the road.
Yes as soon as the weather permits I will drive the car again and if the problem is still there I will diagnose the F1 pump timing. Thanks for the advice.
Honestly ..things don't go away .. having that issue and the code is enough for you to perform the simple diagnostic tests and get to the bottom of the issue now before it can potentially cause more damage and cost thousands to fix It can be as simple as a F1 relay getting stuck ...a 20 dollar part now vs a burnt pump later I would strongly recommend you do the tests now ...all the tests can be done in the garage.... some with door open for exhaust gas As I said above waiting is never a good thing when it comes to our F1 systems Since you are new ..I will tell you I helped many folks on here so please understand where I am coming from I also offered you the possibility of call (WhatsApp) ..I do speak Italian (not great ) as well
I confirm the error has always been temporary, that is, sometimes it only appeared on the diagnosis, but the gearbox worked perfectly, the last time however I had these problems. But absolutely do not misunderstand, I see that you are an expert, it is not a lack of confidence, honestly it is me who has fears with the use of the diagnosis because up to now I have used it to erase temporary errors or check the state of the clutch but never used it with the engine running.
You will only be monitoring the data with the tool while the car is running ..no harm We will not change any values or perform any special functions unless we get to that point Let me know whenever you want ..just without some data points there isn't any point of trying to figure out your issue..it would be just guesses I am here to help if you want
Definitely take @flash32 up on his offer. He is incredibly knowledgeable and spent well over an hour on the phone with me walking me through an issue I had.
OP - @flash32 is right. Take him up on his offer. He is right, issues don’t go away. Fix it now or regret it later.
Agree. Listen to @flash32. He and I have spent many hours getting my F1 system dialed in as well as replacing the potentiometers and bleeding the entire system.. It’s a great idea to get a baseline and then track how the system progresses.
Ok thanks for the advice, as soon as I get out and have time I will analyze the times and pressures of my f1 system and I will post the results here.
